The 2022 Pokemon GO Festival of Lights event has added some new Timed Research for players to complete – here’s how to do it!
Although catching Pokemon is the main focus for Pokemon GO players, completing Research is an extremely important and enjoyable part of the game too.
With the Pokemon GO Festival of Lights returning for 2022, there is new Timed Research for players to complete and it has to do with catching the event Pokemon.
So you can finish this Research as fast as possible, we’ve compiled all of the Tasks and rewards in the Festival of Lights Timed Research.
All Tasks & Rewards in the Pokemon GO 2022 Festival of Lights Timed Research
This is every Task in the Festival of Lights Timed Research and the completion rewards each of them:
Festival of Lights: Timed Research – Step 1/2

One of the most difficult parts of this step is the Curveball Throws. Don’t worry though, here’s the easiest way to make Curveball Throws in Pokemon GO!
Also, if you’re hatching Eggs, make sure you know how to install and use the Pokemon GO Egg Widget. This will make tracking your progress much easier.
Step 1 Completion Rewards
Completing all of the Tasks in Step 1 of the Festival of Light will give players:
- Galarian Ponyta Encounter
- 2500 XP

Luckily, catching these Pokemon should be pretty simple. This is because all of them are part of the wild Pokemon spawns during the 2022 Festival of Lights.

Remember – you only have until October 17 at 8 PM local time to complete both steps and earn the final reward!
Step 2 Completion Rewards
For finishing step 2 of the 2022 Festival of Lights Timed Research, you will get:
- Sparkler Pose for your in-game Avatar
- 2500 XP
