The Festival of Lights event is back in Pokemon GO, and this time we’ve got two new Pokemon to light up the night sky.
Pokemon GO’s Festival of Lights event is an annual celebration of the bonds between people and Pokemon. Players are invited to catch two new illuminating creatures, and will get a few special bonuses just for taking part in the event.

Pokemon GO Festival of Lights 2022 Start Date
The Festival of Lights will begin on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 10 AM local time in Pokemon GO.
When the festival begins, you can expect a full weekend of fun, with some excellent incentives to keep you playing which we’ll explain below.
Pokemon GO Festival of Lights End Date
The Festival of Lights will come to an end on Monday, October 17, 2022, at 8 PM local time in Pokemon GO.
That means you’ll have almost four days to catch the new Pokemon, discover unusual wild encounters, and get some extra XP while you do so!
But don’t forget that the day after the festival ends, we’ve got a new Spotlight hour for one of our favorite Ghost-Types!
New Pokemon in Festival of Lights 2022
There are two new Pokemon making their debut during the Festival of Lights event: the Illuminating Pokemon Morelull, and Shiinotic!
These fluorescent fungi will be glowing when encountered at night, making them easy to spot. Make sure you catch a few while the event is live, as you’ll need 50 Morelull Candy to evolve it into Shiinotic.
All Festival of Lights 2022 Bonuses in Pokemon GO
While the Festival of Lights 2022 is live, the following bonuses will be active in Pokemon GO:
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Chinchou
- 2x Candy for catching all Pokemon
- 2x XP for catching all Pokemon
- Incense activated during the event will last for 2 hours
