The Switch 2 is supposedly launching next year, but how much will Nintendo’s next console cost and how will the price compare to its competitors?

Games consoles are never cheap, but Nintendo has always delivered devices that are a little more friendly on the wallet. Its past two consoles, the Wii U and Switch, both had a $300 price tag, giving gamers hope that the Switch 2 will also be reasonably priced.

And as the Switch 2’s rumored 2025 release date approaches, fans are speculating about how much the console could cost.

Unfortunately, it’ll almost certainly cost over $300, but it could prove to be a bargain compared to other consoles. Here’s how much we think the Switch 2 will cost!

Switch 2 Price Prediction

We believe that the Nintendo Switch 2 will cost $400. This is based on a report from within the industry as well as the current pricing for modern consoles.

Games industry analyst Serkan Toto of Kantan Games told Gamesindustry.biz that he believes the Switch 2 will cost $400. He said:

“I believe the next [Nintendo] hardware will drop next year [2025] for $400. There is a high chance that games will cost more, too: $70”. The next system is also likely to be an iteration rather than a revolution.

While this is just an analyst prediction, not an official source or leak, the current pricing of consoles certainly suggests it will be around that mark.

Even though the original Switch released at a $300 price point, consoles have gotten much more expensive since then due to them having much more powerful hardware. Home consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X cost $500, while even the cheapest Steam Decks are $400.

Therefore, although we expect Nintendo to try to make the Switch 2 as affordable as possible, we’d be very surprised if it was under $400.

Although it likely won’t be under $400, we also couldn’t see the Switch being more expensive than $500.

A $400-$450 price point would make the Switch 2 cheaper than most Steam Decks and would continue the pattern of Nintendo consoles being more affordable than the current PlayStation or Xbox too.

Stay tuned for any announcements from Nintendo regarding its next console. However, we expect that the big reveal is still a while off.

In fact, we expect Nintendo to unveil the Switch 2 in late 2024. This would be in an online Nintendo Direct presentation, like its other recent announcements.
