In a surprising change of tune, Treyarch has reverted the Directed Mode changes that made camo grinding much more of a chore in Black Ops 6 Zombies.
Directed Mode is a new guided experience that launched for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies alongside Season 1.
The premise of the mode is to allow users to easily complete each Zombies map’s Easter Egg Main Quest, by providing step-by-step instructions and by locking difficulty to certain Rounds until sufficient progression is made.
It’s this second aspect that makes Directed Mode perfect for camo farming – or at least it was until a nerf to the mode went live on January 3. Now, Treyarch is apologizing for changing the popular mode, and restoring the ability to grind to your heart’s content.
Directed Mode Fixed in January 9 Patch
In the new January 9 patch for Black Ops 6 Zombies, Treyarch is reverting the changes made in last week’s patch, at least where Directed Mode is concerned.
On January 3, the developer finally introduced Directed Mode for Citadelle des Morts, but at the same time, it decided to delay new zombies from spawning after a player repeated a round more than five times.
“Extended time between rounds and the delay between spawning zombies after five looped rounds at the round cap in Directed Mode,” the last week’s patch notes read.
This was a major issue for those who were using Directed Mode to farm for XP and weapon camos, as it made the method far less effective due to the added downtime between zombie hordes.
Now, after a week of community complaints, Treyarch has chosen to restore Directed Mode to its former glory. The developer commented on the unpopularity of the recent change, assuring fans that it’s focused on making Zombies fun and rewarding but claiming that it “doesn’t always nail it the first time.”
“We know it’s not fun to see a “fix” multiple weeks later for something that wasn’t bothering you in the first place, so we’re reverting the Directed Mode changes”
In addition, the team is giving the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod a series of new buffs, allowing it to activate more frequently on all enemy types and granting it a lower cooldown.
It’s great to hear that Treyarch is listening to fan feedback and that the team is ready to adjust when its decisions are unpopular.
But while Directed Mode is back to its glory days, there’s actually a new Black Ops 6 Zombies camo farming strategy that might be the best yet!
