Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies fans are disappointed to learn that Treyarch just nerfed the game’s best camo and XP farming strategy in its latest patch.
The January 3 patch for Black Ops 6 has been a mixed bag where the game’s community is concerned. First of all, Zombies fans are happy to see that the long-awaited buffs to the elemental sword Wonder Weapons have finally arrived.
Now, the Bastard Sword variants are all a little stronger, with the weakest of the bunch getting some major upgrades.
The new Squid Game event has also arrived, to relatively mixed reviews. But one additional change that Treyarch snuck in just nerfed the best camo farming method in Black Ops 6 Zombies, and that’s quite the disappointment.
Black Ops 6 Zombies Directed Mode Nerf
The best Black Ops 6 Zombies camo grinding method, which featured players exploiting Directed Mode to farm the undead, has now been nerfed.
In the January 3 patch, Treyarch has taken measures to ensure that players can no longer grind endless waves of zombies quite as easily. The latest patch notes lists the following change:
“Extended time between rounds and the delay between spawning zombies after five looped rounds at the round cap in Directed Mode.”
UPDATE: Treyarch has now reverted the change to Directed Mode in a brand-new patch!
Now, if players attempt to grind the same round over and over for easy zombie farming, they will have to wait for the undead to begin spawning again.
This is extremely disappointing for fans who were enjoying using the guided mode to grind for both XP and camos in Black Ops 6 Zombies. The farming method relied on Directed Mode, which instantly resets the round to a set difficulty until players accomplish the next set of Easter Egg steps.
This isn’t the first time Treyarch has attempted to nerf Directed Mode farming and, if this doesn’t kill off the trend for good, it may not be the last.
Now, while the farming strategy will technically still work, players will have to wait longer for the next wave of enemies to appear. And that could mean that it’s technically faster to farm in other modes, such as Standard Zombies, or Multiplayer.
