If you’re still struggling to complete the Citadelle des Morts Main Quest, don’t worry – Directed Mode has finally arrived!
It has now been a few weeks since the release of Black Ops 6’s third Zombies map, Citadelle des Morts, which was added in the Season 1 Reloaded update back on December 5, 2024.
This was the first post-launch Zombies map to arrive in this year’s Call of Duty title and, unlike the other two maps, it released with its Main Quest Easter Egg active.
But if you’re having trouble completing the Citadelle des Morts Main Quest, Directed Mode is now here to give you a helping hand!
Citadelle des Morts Directed Mode Release Date
Citadelle des Morts’ Directed Mode arrived on January 3, 2025, alongside new buffs to the elemental sword Wonder Weapons and more!
As it did with the launch Zombies maps, Treyarch gave Easter Egg hunters a few weeks to complete the quest without Directed Mode spoiling the fun.
Season 2 update is expected to kick off on January 28, going by the in-game Battle Pass timer, meaning that players still have some time to unlock the exclusive Citadelle des Morts Calling Card.
However, you’ll need to beat the map in Standard Mode, not Directed, if you want to get your hands on it.
In the case of Terminus and Liberty Falls, the launch maps received their Directed Mode at the beginning of Season 1, which dropped around three weeks after release day.
It appears that this will be the standard, moving forward, rather than making players wait until the following season.
What Is Directed Mode?
Citadelle des Morts’ Directed Mode is a guided Main Quest experience that restricts gameplay difficulty and round progression while providing step-by-step instructions to help players complete the map’s Easter Egg.
Players can choose between Standard or Directed Mode when selecting their map from the Black Ops 6 Zombies lobby.
In Directed Mode, players enter a game of Zombies with marked objectives that guide them to complete the Main Quest while disabling round progression to ensure things don’t get too difficult.
All Side Quests, S.A.M. Trials, and minor Easter Eggs are disabled, but players have already worked out that Directed Mode is the best way to farm XP in Black Ops 6 Zombies!
Don’t Miss This Exclusive Reward
Call of Duty Zombies fans who like to show off their skills should complete the Citadelle des Morts Easter Egg before Season 2 arrives if they want to unlock its exclusive Calling Card.
Although players can earn Weaver’s ‘Jackknife’ skin and the regular Citadelle des Morts Quest Complete Calling Card at any point, including in Directed Mode, the exclusive recolor won’t ever be available again, once Season 1 comes to an end.
Even if you complete Citadelle des Morts on Standard Mode in Season 2 you’ll have missed your chance to unlock the early variant.
