Xbox Game Pass users who subscribe to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 later this year will have to pay extra for their membership.
Game Pass has long been the best value in gaming, allowing users to pay a small monthly fee to access hundreds of games at any time.
On top of that, Xbox has always dropped all its first-party titles on the service on day one, adding tremendous value to the subscription service.
But all that is changing with the Game Pass July 2024 update, which is both raising prices and restricting available content.

All the New Game Pass Changes
Beginning today, July 10, 2024, Xbox is implementing the following changes to Xbox Game Pass:
- Xbox Game Pass Core, PC, and Ultimate price increasing for new subscribers
- Removal of Xbox Game Pass Console tier for new subscribers
- A new Xbox Game Pass Standard tier has been announced, to arrive in the near future
The most important thing to note is that if you’re an existing Game Pass member, your price will stay the same, and the service won’t change—even on the newly non-existent Game Pass Console tier.
However, if you cancel your subscription at any point, Xbox Support confirms that you’ll be viewed as a new member and subject to all the changes.
What Does This Mean for Black Ops 6?
If you’re planning to join Xbox Game Pass as a new subscriber for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, you’ll now have to pay extra for the privilege.
Console players will not be able to make use of Game Pass Console ($10.99) unless they’re already subscribed to the plan.

Now, the cheapest tier for console users that includes Black Ops 6 will be Game Pass Ultimate, which has raised from $16.99/m to $19.99/m.
The new Game Pass Standard tier will be priced at $14.99, but it does not include day one releases. Therefore, new console members will have no choice but to go with the Ultimate tier for this year’s Call of Duty release.
PC Players Have It Better
Fans planning to play Black Ops 6 on Game Pass PC do have it a little better.
The PC version of Game Pass is raising its price from $9.99 to $11.99 a month in the United States, but that’s still significantly less than console users will have to pay.
And, of course, existing Game Pass subscribers have the best deal possible, maintaining both their old membership and its original price until they choose to cancel.
