Every year, Pokemon GO commemorates the festive season with a two part Winter Holiday celebration – and there’s plenty to look forward in Part 1 of the 2023 event!

The headline addition in Part 1 of the 2023 Winter Holiday event is Cetoddle and Cetitan’s Pokemon GO debuts.

However, there is also a new costumed Pikachu to catch, alongside loads of new Research, updated Raid bosses, and plenty of festive ‘Mon spawning in the wild.

Here’s everything you need to know about the event!

2023 Winter Holiday Part 1 Date & Time

Part 1 of the 2023 Pokemon GO Winter Holiday event is running from 10 AM local time on December 18 until 10 AM local time on December 25, 2023.

Following this, Part 2 of the Winter Holiday will begin!

Event Bonuses

The following bonuses will be active during Winter Holiday Part 1:

  • Either double XP for catching Pokemon or double Stardust for catching Pokemon
    • This choice is made during the Winter Wishes Timed Research
  • Increased XP and Stardust from opening Gifts

New Pokemon

The following new Pokemon will come to Pokemon GO at the start of the Winter Holiday event:

  • Cetoddle
  • Cetitan
  • Pikachu Wearing Holiday Attire
  • Raichu Wearing Holiday Attire

Both Cetoddle and the Holiday Attire Pikachu will be spawning in the wild and available in Raids during Winter Holiday Part 1. Then you can evolve them to get Cetitan and Holiday Attire Raichu!

Research

There are 3 new types of Research available to Pokemon GO players during Part 1 of the 2023 Winter Holiday event:

  1. Winter Holiday Part 1 Field Research Tasks
    • Rewards for these include encounters with plenty of festive Pokemon and Mega Energy for Ice-type Pokemon
  2. Winter Wishes Timed Research
    • The rewards for this include a bonus of your choosing as well as plenty of Winter-themed Pokemon encounters
  3. Paid Timed Research
    • There are two Timed Research Tickets – one costs $2, and the other $5
      • The $2 Ticket rewards include 2 Premium Battle Passes and event-themed costumed Pokemon
      • The $5 Ticket rewards include a bonus 2x Candy for catching Pokemon, event-themed costumed Pokemon, and an exclusive avatar pose

Avatar Items & Stickers

Finally, Part 1 of the 2023 Winter Holiday event will also bring new avatar items and stickers to Pokemon GO.
