Call of Duty MW3 has a brand-new Vortex event on the way as we head into 2024 – here’s everything you need to know, from the start date to rewards!
Modern Warfare 3 has been kicking things up a notch where events are concerned. Already, we’ve seen CODMAS come to the newest Call of Duty title, and now Vortex is up next!
But what exactly is the Vortex event for MW3?
Vortex Event Explained
Vortex is Call of Duty MW3’s New Year event, which appears to have an otherworldly theme.
The event features three remixed versions of fan-favorite Modern Warfare 3 (2023) maps, as well as 15 rewards for players to earn through gameplay.
Vortex Event Start Date
The Vortex event will start on January 3, 2024 and will come to an end on January 17, 2024 in Call of Duty MW3.
This will be immediately following the CODMAS event, which comes to an end on January 3 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET / 4 PM GMT.
Although Activision hasn’t revealed an exact start time, we imagine Vortex will go live shortly after the CODMAS event’s conclusion.

Map Remixes
There will be three remixed maps coming to the Vortex event, each with its own unique theme:
Tetanus – Rust Remix
Tetanus is a mysteriously otherworldly variant of Rust, where neon green lighting gives the map a sci-fi feel.
Satan’s Quarry – Quarry Remix
In Satan’s Quarry, the map we once knew has been dragged to hell, with fire and brimstone littering the arena.
Sporeyard – Boneyard Remix
Boneyard has a major fungal infestation in its new Sporeyard remix. This Dark Aether-esque remix brings glowing blue flora to the popular map, giving it an eerie new setting.
Rewards
Just for playing the Vortex event in MW3, players can earn up to 15 ‘cataclysmic’ rewards in-game.
Activision has not currently revealed what the Vortex event rewards will look like. However, a new leak revealed this Magma Camo, which is expected to be obtainable in the event:
