As we reported last week, Japanese YouTubers will be going hands-on with PS5 tomorrow. Here’s what’s going down:
On the 4th of October at 6 pm JST, some of YouTube’s most popular Japanese content creators will finally get their hands on a working PS5 as part of YouTube Gaming Week Japan.
The event will be able to be viewed in other regions too. Those in the UK will be able to tune in at 10am but those on PT will need to wait until 2am.
The YouTubers invited by Sony to take part include:
- Akagami no Tomo no Game Jikkyou Channel!!
- Anija Otoja
- Gucci no Heya (Miracle Gucchi)
- Kai Mayuzumi (Nijisanji)
- Lulu Suzuhara (Nijisanji)
- Natsuki Hanae
Unfortunately, the titles each of these YouTube stars will be trying remains under wraps. But it will be fun to see what games make an appearance while we watch them get hands-on with PS5.
We imagine Sony will be keen to show off first party exclusive titles that were developed for the PS5 specifically. Such as Demon’s Souls or Godfall. Publishers third-party publishers like FROMSOFTWARE are likely to be prioritised, considering the audience.
Although we do expect western publishers like Ubisoft and Activision will be keen to get in on the action. So, we wouldn’t be surprised if games like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War or Assassin’s Creed Valhalla did make an appearance.
Sony does have important deals in place with these publishers after all.
When Will Western YouTubers Get Hands-On With PS5?
We imagine this will be soon. Influencer marketing will be more important to Sony for the release of PS5 than it has been before.
Therefore, we fully expect some Western YouTubers to be given their own opportunities to get hands-on with PS5 in the coming weeks.
It will be interesting to see if PS5 boot times are indeed what they've been reported to be.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated as more news breaks regarding the PS5.
