The day for Xbox's next-gen pre-orders is finally here and the topic is trending on Twitter as fans struggle to get hold of the new technology.
Today, the Xbox Series X/S go up for pre-order and it's a been a whirlwind of a morning. Even before the hardware went on sales for pre-order, Xbox was trending on Twitter.
Thousands of fans were ready at their PCs, aiming to get their hands on the newly-announced Xbox Series X or the budget Series S. With so many users jumping online, sites have been struggling to maintain order.
But Xbox consoles have certainly been selling.
Xbox Series X Pre-Orders Went Live This Morning
At 8 AM BST, the wait was finally over and the next-generation of Xbox hit the market. Major retailer GAME suffered hard, with their website crashing temporarily in the first few minutes.
After that, Smyths Toy Superstores' site dropped, and it's still yet to quite recover from the impact. Those who live close to a brick-and-mortar store, however, can still head in for a chance at pre-ordering.
Somehow, Amazon actually missed the mark slightly getting the Xbox Series X up on time. Despite being late to the party however, the site has already sold through its stock of Series X.
If you're still yet to get your hands on the new console, Xbox UK reports that online retailer AO still has units in stock.
Some fans chose to bypass this online fiasco, instead heading in-stores to place their orders for the Xbox. Several Twitter users even went as far as to camp out overnight to ensure that they stood a chance of buying the gaming hardware.
Whilst this seems like overkill, especially just for a pre-order, it's worth noting that the PlayStation 5 is still out of stock worldwide. For those who absolutely need the device on its release date, camping out means they don't lose their chance.
Even being online right as pre-orders went live wasn't enough to guarantee the hardware to all fans. Several Twitter users were left broken-hearted at the lack of availability, but if they're lucky, they still have a shot at finding one somewhere.
The Xbox Series S, the budget next-gen hardware, is still available on sites such as Amazon, but it's only a matter of time before they go out of stock too.
Xbox Scalpers Are Already Re-Selling The Next-Gen System
What's more, as ever, there's always the chance of getting a confirmed pre-order from eBay. We wouldn't recommend it though, as the standard price for the Xbox Series X was already high before the scalpers got involved.
If you've not managed to grab the next-gen Xbox yet, don't worry. There's still plenty of time left before the console's launch on November 10.
Before the end of the year, there's likely to be several waves of hardware released, in an effort to satiate the hordes of fans looking to get their hands on the device. Given Microsoft's recent acquisition of Bethesda, there will be a lot of users not wanting to miss out on future Elder Scrolls or Fallout titles.
Still, we'd say Microsoft certainly handled the launch better than Sony did with the PlayStation 5. The upcoming PlayStation was far harder to get hold of than the Xbox, though whether that's due to popularity, we'll have to wait and see.
