Why Was God of War Ragnarok Delayed?

It’s no secret that Sony delayed God of War Ragnarok’s release date, but the tragic reason behind the delay has only just been revealed.

2018’s God of War was one of the very best games of the last console generation. Taking players on a brutal, yet emotional journey through Norse mythology, the game was a hit with long-time fans of the series as well as newcomers alike.

It’s no surprise that the game has built up a huge fanbase who are eager to see where Kratos and Atreus go next, then. However, this fanbase was bitterly disappointed when the God of War Ragnarok delay was announced.

Players initially thought that the global pandemic, much like Sony’s decision to push back Horizon Forbidden West, caused the delay. However, Kratos actor Christopher Judge has now revealed the real reason why God of War Ragnarok was delayed.

Although, you’ll want to check out the first God of War Ragnarok trailer before you find out the sad truth.

Christopher Judge Reveals Why The God of War Ragnarok Release Date Was Pushed Back

Sony is working on 25 first-party PS5 games right now, yet God of War Ragnarok might be the most exciting! This is despite the Sony delaying the game for a previously unknown reason.

However, in a new series of tweets, Christopher Judge unexpectedly revealed that developer Sony Santa Monica delayed God of War Ragnarok because of him.

Judge said that he couldn’t walk and had to undergo some serious surgery back in the Summer of 2019. However, he and Sony Santa Monica kept this a secret until now.

Additionally, Judge is very appreciative of the love and support Sony Santa Monica gave him as they patiently waited for him to complete his rehab and recover. In fact, Judge says it’s “the classiest thing I’ve EVER heard of in this business.”

We, along with all God of War fans, are very glad that Christopher Judge has recovered from his injuries and can’t wait to see his performance as Kratos in God of War Ragnarok.
