Players trying to pre-load Warzone 2.0 have found that it isn’t downloading, despite selecting the option via their digital storefronts.
If you’ve tried to pre-load Warzone 2.0 on PC or consoles and absolutely nothing has happened, don’t panic.
You haven’t done anything wrong. It is just that the process of pre-loading the game if you already own MW2 is a little confusing.
While the pre-load period has begun, don’t worry that the game won’t download before it launches. There is still plenty of time before Warzone 2.0’s official release date.
Why Does Nothing Happen When You Pre-Load Warzone 2.0 on PC & Console?
If you’ve tried to download Warzone 2.0 on either PC or console, but nothing has happened, this is because it will automatically pre-load if you already own MW2.
Activision has stated via a Steam community post that players who own MW2 need to wait for the Season 1 update before Wednesday, 16 November 2022, to install Warzone 2 fully.
Many players are reporting that after choosing to download Warzone 2.0, absolutely nothing is happening. The new Battle Royale wasn’t added to their downloads, nor was it visible on their home screen.
Fortunately, this isn’t a glitch or a bug, and you haven’t done anything wrong. Instead, MW2 has already pre-loaded part of Warzone 2 for you. The remaining part will arrive with the Season 1 update.
Not gonna be dropping Wednesday anyway it seems, Warzone 2.0 preload isn’t downloading for me, I select the PS5 version and it says installed, I check “manage game content” warzone 2.0 file size is at 2.55GB 😂— ApocalypseDude_ (@_ApocalypseDude) November 14, 2022
If you want to find Warzone 2 to make sure it’s definitely installed, you can locate it in your Game Library as a Content Pack called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – Warzone 2.
Of course, if you’re not sure how to check which add-ons are already installed per platform, you should check out our guide on how to reinstall and uninstall Content Packs for MW2.
Why Is Warzone 2.0 Pre-Load Opening MW2?
When you try to download Warzone 2.0 on specific platforms, especially Steam, it might open MW2 instead. This is because Warzone 2 is opened through the same application as MW2.
Because the Warzone 2.0 Content Pack is automatically pre-loaded for players who own MW2, it will try to open MW2 whenever you select Warzone 2.
The full Warzone 2.0 pre-load should become available shortly via the same install as MW2 Season 1. In the meantime, all existing MW2 players can do is sit back and wait for the download to drop in the coming hours.
