A number of studios work on the Call of Duty series, but which developer is making Black Ops 6?

There has been a new Call of Duty title every year since 2005, and to keep up with the annual release cycle, Activision has three main studios working on the series. They are Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games.

These studios have historically worked in a cycle, with each one releasing a game every three years. However, the cycle has become slightly out of sync in recent years.

Fortunately, despite knowing very little about Black Ops 6 so far, we know which of the three main Call of Duty developers is making it.

Who Is Developing Black Ops 6?

Treyarch is the lead developer of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, but the team appears to be working alongside Raven Software in a joint development role.

Fans will recognize Treyarch as being the developer of all of the other Black Ops games.

This development team is known for its fast-paced, more arcade-like gameplay and the Zombies game mode. Therefore, Black Ops 6 should have a very different vibe to the realism of Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare games.

Additionally, a number of support studios at Activision appear to be assisting with the development of Black Ops 6.

On the game’s Steam page, Activision credits Treyarch and Raven Software, but also lists Beenox, High Moon Studios, Activision Shanghai, Sledgehammer Games, Infinity Ward, and Demonware as developers.

Seeing as this is practically every active studio known for working on the Call of Duty franchise, it is unclear whether Activision has all its teams working on the upcoming title, or whether some of these developers are simply included by default.

After all, Black Ops 6 will be incorporated into Call of Duty HQ, an application developed by COD development teams in collaboration.

Be sure to check out the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct presentation on June 9 for more information on the upcoming release.

This will hopefully showcase the gameplay for the first time and could even reveal key points in the lead-up to Black Ops 6’s release, such as the beta dates, pre-order dates and editions of the game, as well as the release date itself!
