Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has three different story paths for you to experience. But in what order should you complete them?

With three different story paths, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet certainly has a lot of content to enjoy. However, how you tackle that content could truly shape your unique experience.

Of course, if you’re not sure what the differences between each of the story paths are, then you can check out our detailed guide that explains every story path in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Can You Do Each Story Path Separately in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Yes, in theory, you can play each of the story paths separately as you explore Paldea. However, due to the fact that the world is level-gated and doesn’t scale with you, it might be difficult.

So, if you wanted to pursue the Victory Road story path, you’d have to grind a lot to reach the Elite Four.

Level scaling means that the enemies you fight level up with you. This ultimately makes the game constantly challenging from start to finish. It also prevents the player from becoming overleveled.

On the other hand, level gating means that enemies have set levels, so certain areas are inaccessible because their levels are too high.

It’s worth keeping this distinction in mind when contemplating whether you really can complete each story separately.

Should You Do Each Story Separately in Scarlet & Violet?

No, not really. Despite there being the illusion that each story can be completed separately, the level gating makes it practically impossible.

Even should you be able to beat all of Victory Road, you’ll then be too overleveled for any of the other story paths, making them pretty dull.

Simply put, it is not worth it. You’ll want to try and complete all three story paths simultaneously. This will also give you the best balance of gameplay styles and keep things feeling fresh.
