A total of 32 Ominous Black Stakes are scattered around Paldea to unlock four Legendary Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet!
Every generation of Pokemon brings the excitement of new Legendary mons’. For Scarlet and Violet, searching for these new Legends has become almost an easter egg hunt.
To get four of these new exciting Pokemon, you need to find a total of 32 Stakes in Paldea to unlock secret shrines in Scarlet and Violet!

Where Can I Find All 32 Stakes in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
There are 32 Stakes in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet scattered all across Paldea. In total, there are four different Stakes colors. Each is spread out in a quadrant segment of the map.
- Yellow Stakes – Southwest quadrant area of Paldea, covering the area from Cascarrafa all the way south to the Alfornada area.
- Purple Stakes – Southeast quadrant area of Paldea, covering the area from Mesagoza all the way east and up north until reaching the southern entrance of Levincia.
- Green Stakes – Northwest quadrant area of Paldea, covering all areas north of Cascarrafa and west of Glaseado Mountain.
- Blue Stakes – Northeast quadrant area of Paldea, covering the ground north from Levincia and east of Glaseado Mountain.
Note: Before searching the Stakes in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it is highly recommended to have most, if not all, the Miraidon and Koraido abilities. This will make traversing the terrain considerably easier, as some of these Stakes require climbing and swimming, even with Fast Travel factored in.

All Purple Stakes Locations
- Purple Stake 1 – Outside Artazon (West) – Climb ability required. You can easily get this Stake by fast traveling to the Artazon (West) Pokemon Center and climbing the nearby rock formation south of it.


- Purple Stake 2 – North of Los Platos (East) – Located on a small plateau outside the Los Platos East area.


- Purple Stake 3 – East of Mesagoza (South) – On a ledge accessible by traveling east from the Mesagoza South Pokemon Center.


- Purple Stake 4 – West of South Province (Area Three) – On a platform west of the South Province Area Three.


- Purple Stake 5 – South of Los Platos (East) – On the top of the mountain formation south of the Los Platos East Pokemon Center.


- Purple Stake 6 – Northeast of Lost Platos (East) – On top of a mountain formation northeast of Los Platos East Pokemon Center.


- Purple Stake 7 – Northeast of South Province (Area Three) – Travel northeast through the ruins area until you reach a plateau with grass.

- Purple Stake 8 – South Province (Area Five) – On an elevated plateau west of the South Province Area Five Pokemon Center.


To collect all these stakes, a lot of traveling is required. Make sure you do not miss any shiny Pokemon in the wild!
All Yellow Stakes Locations
- Yellow Stake 1 – Northeast of Alfornada – On a ledge in a mountain northeast of the Alfornada Pokemon Center.


- Yellow Stake 2 – Southeast of West Province (Area One) Central – On a ledge on the side of a small mountain southeast of the West Province Area One Central Pokemon Center.


- Yellow Stake 3 – Northeast of West Province (Area One) Central – On a small rock formation entirely surrounded by a mountain formation northeast of the West Province Area One Central Pokemon Center.


- Yellow Stake 4 – East of West Province (Area One) North – On a small platform attached to a mountain east of the West Province Area One North Pokemon Center.


- Yellow Stake 5 – Northwest of the Pokemon League – Located at the edge of the Great Crater of Paldea, northwest of the Pokemon League Pokemon Center.


- Yellow Stake 6 – East of Cascarrafa (West) – East of the Cascarrafa West Pokemon Center, near a tree in the city’s surrounding area.


- Yellow Stake 7 – East of Alfornada – On a small mountain ledge close to the river, directly east of the Alfornada Pokemon Center.


- Yellow Stake 8 – North of Alfornada – Inside a cave that is reachable by traveling north of the Alfornada Pokemon Center.


All Green Stakes Locations
- Green Stake 1 – East of Porto Marinada – The Green Stake is located on top of a rock pillar east of Porto Marinada.


- Green Stake 2 – Northeast of Porto Marinada – The Green Stake is on a grassy plain northeast of Porto Marinada. Also, this Stake is reachable by traveling north from the previous one.

- Green Stake 3 – North of Porto Marinada – Located on a small elevated area with a view to the sea, north of Porto Marinada.


- Green Stake 4 – Island Northwest of Medali (West) – You can find this Green Stake in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on a small island northwest of the Medali West Pokemon Center.


- Green Stake 5 – Second Island Northwest of Medali (West) – You can find this Green Stake on an island with a Watchtower northwest of the Medali West Pokemon Center, exactly north of the previous stake location.


- Green Stake 6 – South of Glaseado Mountain – You can locate this Green Ominous Stake in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on an elevated area south of the Glaseado Mountain Pokemon Center.


- Green Stake 7 – West of North Province (Area Three) – This stake is located on the side of a mountain west of the North Province Area Three Pokemon Center.


- Green Stake 8 – East of the Casseroya Lake Island – You can locate this Green Stake on an elevated area close to the sea by traveling east of the Casseroya Lake Island Watchtower.


All Blue Stakes Locations
- Blue Stake 1 – Northeast of Montenevera – Travel northeast from the Montenevera Pokemon Center until you reach the beach area. You will find the stake in an elevated area close to the beach.


- Blue Stake 2 – North of North Province (Area One) – This stake is in an elevated area north of the North Province Area One Pokemon Center. Also, you can reach this Stake by traveling southeast from the location of the last the first Blue Stake.


- Blue Stake 3 – South of North Province (Area One) – This stake is next to a tree in an elevated area south of the North Province Area One Pokemon Center.


- Blue Stake 4 – Northeast of Dalizapa Passage – This stake is in a small platform at the side of a mountain northeast of the Dalizapa Passage Pokemon Center.


- Blue Stake 5 – East of Levincia (North) – In a mountain formation east of the Levincia North Pokemon Center.


- Blue Stake 6 – Northeast of Levincia (North) – This stake is located in a tiny ruins area surrounded by mountains. To get there, travel northeast from the Levincia North Pokemon Center.


- Blue Stake 7 – East of North Province (Area Two) – On a small hill east of the North Province Area Two Pokemon Center.


- Blue Stake 8 – South of North Province (Area Two) – Located at the top of a mountain south of the North Province Area Two Pokemon Center. You can reach this location faster if you start traveling from the Fury Falls Watchtower.


What Are the Black Ominous Stakes?
In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the Black Ominous Stakes are special stakes you can pull from the ground to unlock four shrines in Paldea, each of which contains a Legendary Pokemon part of the Ruinous Quartet.
Players can learn more about the lore of these stakes, the Treasures of Ruin story, and the Legendary Ruinous Quartet Pokemon locked in the shrines by taking Raifort’s history class at the academy.
Once a player completes this class’s midterm and final tests, Raifort will mark the location of the shrines on the map, making it easier to find them. Although, this is not necessary to find the shrines.

How Many Stakes Are There in Total in Scarlet & Violet?
There are a total of 32 Ominous Black Stakes around Paldea in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. These stakes are divided into four colors: blue, yellow, green, and purple.

Where Can I Find All the Shrines in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
- Purple Shrine – Located southwest of the South Province Area Five Pokemon Center.


- Yellow Shrine – Southwest of the West Province Area One North Pokemon Center.


- Green Shrine – Located in the northeasternmost area of Paldea, north of the Casseroya Lake.


- Blue Shrine – Inside a waterfall cave at the top of a mountain south of the North Province Area Two Pokemon Center. Climb the waterfall all the way to the top to find the cave. You can reach this location faster if you start traveling from the Fury Falls Watchtower.


How Can I Open the Shrines in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
To open a Shrine in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you have to pull eight stakes of the same color from the ground. Once this task is completed, the Shrine representing that color will open, allowing you to catch the Legendary Pokemon inside.

How Many Shrines are There in Scarlet & Violet?
There are four Shrines around Paldea in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Each is a different color (yellow, blue, green, or purple) and requires eight Ominous Stakes to be pulled from the ground to unlock.

What Legendary Pokemon Can I Find Inside the Shrines?
Inside each Shrine in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you will find a Legendary Pokemon part of the Ruinous Quartet. The Ruinous Pokemon inside will vary depending on the color of the Shrine:
- Green Shrine – Ting-Lu
- Yellow Shrine – Chien-Pao
- Purple Shrine – Wo-Chien
- Blue Shrine – Chi-yu
