Warzone Season 1 Reloaded is finally here, so where are those Covert Exfils and Weapon Cases that were set to arrive in-game?
Whenever a new major Warzone update goes live, fans have a lot of new content to explore in Activision’s Battle Royale title.
Season 1 Reloaded brings two new guns to the game, alongside the return of Champion’s Quest and a night vision Gulag. But its most anticipated new additions are currently missing in action…
Covert Exfils & Weapon Cases Have Been Delayed
Raven Software has announced that both Covert Exfils and Weapon Cases have been delayed from their intended launch alongside Season 1 Reloaded.
The developer cited negative fan feedback as the primary reason for the change in plan:
“Over the last few days, we’ve seen your feedback about the Covert Exfil feature and have decided not to launch it in standard Battle Royale with Season 1 Reloaded,” Raven Software wrote on X (formerly Twitter) last week.
Raven stands by each of the features, claiming that the studio believes that the gameplay loop provided by Covert Exfils and the new Weapon Cases would be an exciting addition to Warzone.
However, the two mechanics will instead debut in a dedicated game mode further down the line.
“We’re looking forward to the new challenges that these features will provide and to your continued feedback once the mode is available,” the developer concluded.
As for when this will be arriving, we don’t know – but we imagine it’s still planned before Season 2.
Covert Exfil Explained
The initial plan for Covert Exfils in Warzone was as follows:
At the start of every game of Warzone Battle Royale, five Covert Exfils appear in all Buy Stations.
These special items can be purchased for a high price, and can only be obtained before the Gulag closes towards the end of the game.
Buying a Covert Exfil will call in an exfil chopper which can extract you from the game early, provided you make it on board alive. Extracting in this manner provides a secondary win condition, though it does not contribute to a Champion’s Quest in the same way as a standard Warzone Victory.
It is a great option for those looking to extract a Weapon Case, however…
Weapon Cases Explained
Weapon Cases were set to make a welcome return from MW2’s DMZ mode. At the start of each game, an area would be marked on the map that contains the iconic yellow case.
Pick up a Weapon Case and you’ll be marked for all enemy players to see. Successfully extract with the Weapon Case, either via Covert Exfil or by being the last man standing, and you’ll be able to open it.
Every team member on the squad that extracts the Weapon Case will earn a series of rewards within, which range from Weapon Blueprints, to vehicle skins, to charms.
Extract enough Weapon Cases to unlock the new exclusive rewards (which are yet to be revealed), and show off your talent in getting out of Urzikstan alive.
