It’s official – Ranked Play is coming to MW3 as a priority, but when will the mode release?
Call of Duty’s Ranked modes have an extremely dedicated fanbase, but it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for the competitive community over the last few years.
Ranked Play released in Season 2 for Modern Warfare 2, Vanguard, and Cold War, giving COD players a significant wait before they could get started.
This time around, Ranked Play will arrive in Season 1 – but it’s not coming as soon as players would like.
MW3 Ranked Play Release Date
MW3 Ranked Play will arrive in Season 1 Reloaded, the mid-season update for the new Call of Duty title, Activision has confirmed.
Season 1 Reloaded should drop in January 2024, so it’s not too long of a wait for fans of competitive modes.
However, it’s unfortunate that the mode will not arrive at launch, or even alongside the start of Season 1.
Greg Reisdorf, Multiplayer Creative Director at Sledgehammer Games, confirmed MW3 Ranked Play’s release date at COD NEXT 2023:
“We want enough time for players to get familiar with everything, they can understand what’s happening within the game,” the developer stated live on stream.
It’s worth noting that MW2 Ranked requires players to be at least Level 16 to access the mode. Therefore, we expect a similar entry requirement this time around too.
Who Is Developing MW3 Ranked Play?
Treyarch is developing the Ranked Play mode for Modern Warfare 3, just as it did for MW2, Vanguard, and Cold War.
Fans of the series will best know the development team for its work as the lead on the Black Ops games.
Reisdorf assures fans that the team will bring over the competitive experience from MW2, alongside some modernization and much-needed updates.
However, if you’re a fan of Ranked Play as it stands in last year’s game, chances are you’ll feel right at home with MW3’s offering.
