Fortnite OG was such a smash hit that it’s already confirmed to return, but when exactly is it coming back?
It’s official – after 4 weeks of Fortnite OG kicking us back to Chapter 1, the special season has come to an end. Unfortunately, the OG season was our shortest major update to date, but that didn’t stop it from breaking a ton of records.
Fortnite OG was responsible for giving the game its ‘biggest day’ ever, with 44.7 million players dropping in to play.
And in total, over 100 million players joined in the fun, which makes it clear why Epic Games is already confirming the mode’s eventual return!
OG Season 2 Release Date
Fortnite OG is now confirmed to be coming back with the original map sometime in 2024.
This was confirmed on the official Fortnite X (formerly Twitter) account on the same day that OG officially came to an end.
Epic Games has not revealed when the OG map will return, however we’d guess that it will re-appear on one of the following dates:
- September 26, 2024 – On the anniversary of Fortnite Battle Royale’s launch
- November 3, 2024 – Exactly a year on from the Fortnite OG start date
We don’t think that OG will be back too soon, as Fortnite is currently leaning heavily into three new game modes with Chapter 5: LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival.
We’ll update this article as soon as official confirmation or leaks indicate when to expect the return of Fortnite OG!
Will the OG Map Return?
Yes, it’s very likely that the Fortnite Chapter 1 ‘OG’ map will return as the mode comes back in 2024.
However, this time around, we wonder if Epic Games will choose to incorporate elements of Chapter 2 as well as the original launch.
After all, as we head into Chapter 5, even Fortnite’s second map is ancient history that many players would like to see return. But on the other hand, with the original map pulling in 100 million users, Epic may not want to stray too far from the successful formula.
