The Big Bang live event for Fortnite spells the end for the OG Season and will send us into Chapter 5 – here’s what time the event starts, and how to play!

If you’re returning to Epic Games’ Battle Royale title for Fortnite OG, you may have forgotten how live events work.

Even if you’re a regular player, it’s been a whole year since the last live event, Fracture, took place at the end of Chapter 3 Season 4.

With that in mind, we’ve put together everything you need to know about today’s Fortnite live event: The Big Bang.

Event Start Time

This event is now live.

Fortnite’s The Big Bang live event will kick off on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 7 PM GMT.

However, while the event is set to kick off at the time above, we recommend booting up Fortnite at least half an hour earlier than this – and ideally a full hour in advance.

Fortnite The Big Bang Event

Usually, the Battle Royale is so popular during live events that we see lengthy queues just to get online. And considering that Fortnite OG had more players than the game has ever seen, those queues could be especially long today.

How to Take Part in the Live Event

All you need to do to take part in The Big Bang live event is load into Fortnite roughly 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to the start of the event.

Then, you’ll be able to see a new playlist ‘The Big Bang’ appearing in the Fortnite menus. This will be the only playable experience while the event is live, as standard matchmaking will cease in preparation for the upcoming Chapter-ending spectacle.

Load into The Big Bang like you would any other Fortnite mode, and you’ll be able to play through the event in person.

This is one live event that you won’t want to miss! After all, we’ve already got an idea of what to expect:

What Will Happen in the Event?

Although specifics are never revealed in advance, there are a few things we know from hints and leaks that reveal what to expect in The Big Bang live event.

Bear in mind that this section may contain spoilers for the event and upcoming season that you may want to avoid.
  1. LEGO x Fortnite Teaser

The long-awaited LEGO x Fortnite collaboration is dropping in Chapter 5 and already we’re seeing teases of it in action. In one of The Big Bang promo images, it’s possible to see an entire LEGO brick universe, complete with a LEGO Fortnite Llama.

Reportedly this new crossover is set to be a major part of Fortnite Creative in the near future, and we’ll get our first look at it during the event!

  1. Eminem Concert

Although leaks report that this new event is much more than a simple Fortnite concert, it has been confirmed that Eminem will be performing at The Big Bang.

Eminem skins are already present in-game, and all players will be able to unlock special rewards for participating in The Big Bang – including an exclusive ‘Marshall Magma’ variant for Marshall Never More skin owners.

  1. Chapter 5 Tease

Of course, we can also expect a look at what’s to come after Fortnite OG, as Chapter 5 Season 1 begins.

In case you missed it, Xbox just accidentally leaked two unbelievable Battle Pass additions for the new season, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see them get hinted at during the event.

We’ll also probably get a hint at exactly what the leaked season name ‘Underground’ means for the Fortnite story – which has lately been on a bit of a hiatus.

And for those who simply can’t wait, here’s when Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 should kick off!
