Warzone Season 3 Reloaded drops in just a few more hours, and the Serpentine Perk is set to change the meta.
If you’ve been playing much Warzone Season 3, you’ll have likely noticed that one weapon class got some huge nerfs. We’re talking, of course, about sniper rifles.
Snipers were always a little too powerful on Caldera, with the map offering less cover in many areas than Verdansk used to have.
But after the Season 3 nerfs, many long-range rifles became relatively unviable options. When you’ve got assault rifles with zero recoil in Caldera, why bother taking a sniper that doesn’t kill with a headshot?
At the start of the season, we put together a list of the most viable snipers that can still one-shot-kill. Now, even some of those options may become obsolete with the new Serpentine Perk in Warzone.
What Does Serpentine Do in Warzone?
The new Warzone Perk, Serpentine, is a game-changing loadout addition that reduces incoming damage from bullets, explosives, and fire by 20% while sprinting.
If you’re moving across open space in a hurry, this Perk could be the difference between life and death. After all, a sniper headshot that would normally kill you may now just be a mere inconvenience.
Players that hit a Serpentine user will see a snake indicator pop-up, helping them understand why the enemy didn’t go down. And considering how powerful the perk is, we expect to see that snake appear a lot.
Is Warzone Serpentine Perk Overpowered?
Serpentine isn’t necessarily too powerful but it’s very, very strong. With such fast TTKs in Warzone’s best weapons right now, taking 20% less damage when sprinting is excellent.
However, to equip Serpentine, a Perk 1 option, you’ll need to remove a perk like Double Time, Cold Blooded, or Quick Fix. EOD isn’t as popular as it once was, but that’s also a viable choice.
Cold Blooded is a must-have for many players, thanks to Combat Scout being so common in Caldera and Rebirth Island. But a full 20% damage reduction could be the incentive players need if they’re often caught while sprinting.
But while Serpentine may not be overpowered per se, it does appear to put the final nail in the coffin for sniper rifles. Now, even the best Warzone sniper loadout might not be viable, if this Perk becomes popular.
We’ll have to wait and see though, as fans get ready to drop into the new update. Don’t miss out on all the new underground transit locations in Caldera!
