The nerf to sniper rifles in Warzone Season 1 Reloaded has prompted many complaints from Warzone players who like keeping their distance!
Sniping has always been controversial in Warzone, thanks to their ability to kill with one shot. Initially, all sniper rifles could down enemies with one headshot but, the strength of snipers has fluctuated after a series of buffs and nerfs.
Despite this, sniping truly became meta again with the introduction of the KATT-AMR to Warzone. This is because it can get one-shot headshots at all distances without needing explosive ammo.
Unfortunately, this sniper rifle got a significant nerf in Season 1 Reloaded, and players aren’t happy!
Warzone Fans Hate the KATT-AMR Nerf
A popular post on the Warzone subreddit asks why Warzone developer Raven Software hates snipers, in response to the KATT-AMR and .50 Cal Spire Point Rounds nerf in Season 1 Reloaded.
Plenty of players agree that the sniping play style has been hit very hard with this nerf, as the KATT-AMR is the only viable sniper rifle right now.
While other snipers like the MCPR-300 and FJX Imperium can also kill with one headshot in Warzone, they require explosive ammunition, which massively decreases bullet velocity. This makes them impractical as it is very tricky to hit targets at long ranges.
Therefore, by nerfing the only good sniper in the game right now, sniping is much more difficult for everyone. But is it still a viable play style?
Is Sniping Still Viable?
Yes, sniping with the KATT-AMR is still viable, but it is certainly a lot more difficult. This is because the meta KATT-AMR build has much lower bullet velocity than before.
As your shots from the KATT-AMR will travel slower, you will need to lead your targets and account for bullet drop more to ensure your shots connect.
However, this nerf to the KATT-AMR could be good for Warzone’s meta. This, combined with nerfs across the board for LMGs, means that the meta is wide open, and assault rifles are finally viable again!
