Warzone’s anti-cheat software has finally been revealed, but will RICOCHET detect Cronus and XIM users?
We’re definitely happy to hear that the long-rumored Warzone anti-cheat is finally almost a reality. Yesterday, Activision revealed more details about the upcoming software that’s coming to the Battle Royale game.
If you missed it, here’s everything we know about Warzone and Vanguard’s RICOCHET anti-cheat!
Right now, cheaters are at an all-time high in Warzone, so the news of a hacker deterrent is certainly welcome. However, could this news be coming a little too late?
After all, many players won’t be able to enjoy the upcoming Ghosts of Verdansk Halloween game mode, thanks to cheaters in almost every lobby.
Warzone’s RICOCHET Anti-Cheat May Ban Cronus & XIM Users
Warzone’s RICOCHET anti-cheat may soon be able to detect Cronus and XIM users, Activision reveals.
Recently, a small group of influencers were able to ask Activision some questions about its new RICOCHET software. The anti-cheat, which will be available in Vanguard and Warzone later this year, aims to improve matchmaking on both console and PC.
And it didn’t take long for one of the most important questions on many players’ minds to be addressed. Will Cronus and XIM devices on console see any changes with RICOCHET’s introduction?
As it turns out, the answer is a solid maybe.
According to Activision: “Server-side technology that utilizes machine learning paves the way for such devices and scripts to be detected.”
What this means is that if RICOCHET works like we hope it does, it isn’t impossible for the software to pick up strange inputs. Since the machine-learning technology is server-side too, it’s far more difficult to bypass.
Both Cronus and XIM users should be detectable, theoretically, although probably not at launch.
What Are Cronus & XIM in Warzone?
For those unaware, Cronus and XIM are controller modification tools that allow Warzone players to have an advantage over others in-game. Players can modify their controllers to increase aim assist, remove recoil, rapid-fire semi-automatic weapons, and more.
The Activision representative reports that the publisher is aiming to work with Sony and Microsoft to combat these issues. However, they allegedly are having little success so far.

The RICOCHET anti-cheat will arrive alongside Warzone’s new Pacific WW2 map. Unfortunately, that means we’ll be waiting a while for Vanguard content.
However, Vanguard integration is starting early, with 2 WW2 guns already arriving in-game!
But are the new Vanguard weapons too powerful with 10 available Gunsmith slots?
As it turns out, the M1 Garand especially has a major problem in Warzone right now.
And the Pacific Warzone map could have big problems too!
