Warzone fans are not happy with the state of the battle royale, and hate its new outbreak of zombies.
When Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 2 began, we thought it'd be big news. After a handful of teases, the Vodyanoy finally crashed on Verdansk, with some hungry undead passengers on board.
But all we got was the new Outbreak event in Warzone, allowing players to get some interesting loot at the start of the game. It was interesting to see zombies return to Warzone once again, but it didn't shake up the gameplay just yet.
After that, reports indicated that zombies were escaping the Shipwreck and heading into Verdansk. However, our excitement was short-lived.
Despite viral marketing from Activision, the Ghoul-ag was more disappointing than we'd hoped. And now, the Warzone Zombies are off to the hospital next, with no invasion present on the map.
But Warzone players are growing bored of waiting for new content. And this slow but steady invasion isn't helping matters.
Warzone Fans Hate the Battle Royale's New Zombies
In a popular new Reddit post on the CODWarzone subreddit, fans vent their frustration with the new Warzone zombies.
Reddit user Suls14 takes major issues with the way zombies are being handled in Warzone, claiming that the whole experience is 'dumb'.
"They started at shipwreck, which makes sense, but then you have to activate them?! It’s supposed to be an outbreak, not a weird game."
The Reddit user continues, pointing out that it's not so much a spread of zombies but a horde traveling around the Warzone POIs.
"After the zombies go to prison which is good because then they’re spreading all over the map. But why would they move?! It looks more like the zombies decided one day that we want to move house than an outbreak! Why would they take them away from shipwreck?! Now shipwreck is useless and absolutely no one goes there."
At this point, many users know about the leaked Warzone Plague Mode which features a nuke wiping out the zombies. But that's starting to look more and more like it's coming in Season 3, rather than anytime soon.
It's hard not to draw comparisons to the epic Haunting of Verdansk event in Warzone either. Both Outbreak and Haunting contained zombies invading the map, but the Halloween LTM was far more entertaining to witness.
This slow pace could be Activision getting ready to say goodbye to Verdansk forever though. After all, we finally have our first image of the new Warzone map - suggesting that the end is growing near.
Perhaps fans should ignore the undead and simply enjoy Verdansk while they still can. Because despite the new Warzone map having more players and POIs than ever, there will always be fans that preferred the old Warzone.
