Reporting cheaters in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone has more effect than you'd think, as Activision brings down the ban hammer.
Although cheating appears to be much more prevalent lately in Call of Duty, publisher Activision isn't simply ignoring the issue. Lately, there seems to have been a major influx in hackers across all platforms.
However, this could soon be an issue of the past, provided Activision keeps dishing out the bans. Reddit user Being_best_version recently posted to the Warzone subreddit, celebrating his report being acknowledged.
It seems that, after reporting a player, users will receive messages when that report leads to a ban. In a pop-up on the Call of Duty main menu, Activision thanks players for their efforts.
The message reads:
"Thank you for your report. Players who violate our policies disrupt Warzone and Modern Warfare games for everyone.
We can't provide specific details about account penalties, but we can say your report did result in a player ban.
Thank you for helping us create a fun and fair experience for all"
Are Warzone Bans Enough Punishment?
It's certainly nice to see that cheaters are receiving punishment for their actions in-game. Although Warzone hackers can simply make another free account, those playing Modern Warfare multiplayer aren't so lucky.
A ban on their account will mean that a fresh copy of Modern Warfare needs purchasing in order to hop back in. Sadly, cheaters in Warzone are much faster at getting back into the action.
Recently, YouTuber NICKMERCS claimed Warzone is dying due to a hacker infestation. This may not be the case just yet, but numbers of hacking players do appear to be on the rise.
Hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of these banned player messages in the near future. Several users may even encounter them after reporting the new Warzone glitch that makes a player invisible.
Although the invisible player did appear to have gotten that way due to a bug in the game, there's no chance they escaped without a few reports headed their way.
Another glitch that's sure to have players hitting the report button involves everyone's favorite explosive. The Warzone C4 trick will kill full squads in a second, making it a terrible way to die.
However, the C4 trick is actually due to a bad bit of programming in the game, rather than the work of a hacker. Still, if it's not either fixed or classed as cheating soon, we'll be surprised.
