Is Warzone 2 Getting a Ranked Mode?

Yes, Warzone 2 is getting a Ranked mode with Call of Duty officially confirming it is on its way. The developers made the announcement on their official Twitter account.

Warzone Ranked is set to release near the Season 3 update.

Plans for Ranked in Warzone were drawn up back in the first installment of Activision’s Battle Royale game.

During the Warzone: Caldera Season Two, developer Josh Bridges said in an interview with content creator TeeP “I cannot wait to get to ranked play because that’s ultimately what we need, to make sure that highly skilled players have an end game”.

Bridges later went on to say they do not want to rush its release as they “want to do it right”.

However, more recently, Infinity Ward Director of Communications Stephanie Snowden talked about a Warzone 2 ranked mode.

Snowden stated at COD Next in September 2022 that they were listening to the community about a number of issues including rank play.

The introduction of a ranked mode would also reduce the need for Skill Based Matchmaking in Warzone 2. A change that the community would certainly welcome.

Warzone 2 is one of the only Battle Royale games that have yet to have a ranked mode included in its game.

Since its release in 2020, Infinity Ward has not catered to their competitive players making them one of the only ones in the genre not to do so.

Games such as Fortnite, PUBG & Apex Legends all include a dedicated competitive playlist. This allows players to choose between a tougher or casual experience.

For now, if you are looking for your fix of competitive Call of Duty, don’t worry as ranked play is here in MW2!
