Do I Need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold to Play Warzone 2?

Warzone 2.0 is the latest free-to-play Battle Royale from Call of Duty, but will you need an active PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription to play it?

If you’re ready to drop in, Warzone 2.0 is finally here. The sequel of the popular first game, Warzone 2 aims to improve many aspects of its predecessor.

Since it’s free-to-play, you’ll be able to experience Al Mazrah and some great POIs without paying a penny. However, you may wonder whether you need to shell out extra on a subscription.

Do You Need PlayStation Plus for Warzone 2?

You don’t need an active PlayStation Plus subscription to be able to enjoy Warzone 2.0 or its new DMZ mode.

This is the same as Call of Duty Warzone, which saw no requirements for PS Plus to be able to play the Battle Royale game.

However, you will need a PlayStation Network account to download and play Warzone 2.0. You’ll also need a PlayStation Plus subscription to play Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer modes.

Do You Need Xbox Live Gold for Warzone 2.0?

Fortunately, you won’t need an Xbox Live Gold membership to be able to play Warzone 2.0.

Similar to the first Warzone, which is now becoming Warzone Caldera, you’ll be able to experience the latest free-to-play game with no subscription requirements.

Just like PlayStation though, you’ll need an Xbox Live account to be able to download and play Warzone 2.0. And if you’re looking to purchase MW2, you’ll need an active membership to play multiplayer.

There are a few major changes to the Warzone formula with the latest game, such as the new Assimilation system in Warzone 2.

If you’re hoping to play the new DMZ mode, you’ll want to find a Stronghold Keycard in Warzone 2.0 DMZ.
