Warzone 2 players are calling for a nerf to melee due to how much damage it can do to players.
In any battle royale, melee should be a last resort. The whole point is to find the best weapon and items to survive. But if a player can win by punching everyone to death, it can frustrate others.
This is an ongoing issue in Warzone 2, and players are growing tired of it.
Does Warzone 2 Melee Need a Nerf?
Players believe that Infinity Ward should nerf the damage in Warzone 2 due to its inconsistency and overall power.
Some players have experienced being one-shotted by a melee attack in Warzone 2. This is incredibly unfair, especially at the beginning of the match, where players fight to find weapons to survive.
When it comes to pistols vs. melee, it seems that melee is winning too often. Some players also believe that there is hidden critical damage to melee hits.
In the clip below, you can see a player survive a couple of shots while taking down the enemy with only two hits.
Although, the player did miss a few shots and jumped, which slowed them down and allowed the enemy to close in faster. It still shows that there is almost no margin for error when an enemy approaches you with their fists at short distances.

Warzone 2 is also one of the battle royales with the lowest melee TTK. For reference, Apex Legends requires four melee hits, and Fortnite requires five melee hits to down a player. This is without armor; it takes quite a few more hits once enemies have armor.
Warzone 2 only takes two hits to take down a player. It also doesn’t seem to change when armor is equipped.
Thankfully, it seems Infinity Ward is listening to the community and implementing plenty of changes in Warzone 2 Season 2. They’ve already changed the Warzone economy to benefit players.
Hopefully, this means we’ll see an update on melee damage.
