Warzone 2 is finally just around the corner, but how can players pre-load the upcoming Battle Royale before launch day?
Call of Duty games are always a tremendous download, and one you don’t want to be starting just as the new release goes live.
Thankfully, Activision does let fans prepare their installs ahead of new title launches. And with our guide on how to pre-load Warzone 2.0, you should have no issues prepping for launch day.
Is Warzone 2 a New Download?
No, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 use the same application. If you already own MW2, Warzone 2 is just an additional content pack on the same game that you already likely have downloaded.
To check if you already have Warzone 2 installed under the MW2 application, go to ‘Manage Game Content’ on the application and make sure the Warzone 2 content pack says “Installed”.
This means that you won’t need to install a separate application to play Warzone 2.0.
However, if you don’t own MW2, then you can install Warzone 2 as a separate download. Warzone 2 is also a separate application from Warzone 1.
You’ll need to make space on your hard drives for the massive Call of Duty title, as it consists of both Warzone 2.0 and the new DMZ game mode.
As for Warzone 1, the original BR title will be going offline for a couple of weeks before rebranding as Warzone Caldera. Here’s when Warzone Caldera will go offline and when it’ll be coming back.

Warzone 2 File Size
As anticipated, Warzone 2.0 is a massive download and one that will likely have its fair share of enormous updates each season too.
However, the game’s exact size depends on the platform you’re playing it on.
Warzone 2.0 File Size on PlayStation
Although the Warzone 2.0 file size for PS4 and PS5 is yet to be confirmed, we’re anticipating it to be around 115 GB on both platforms.
PS5 players often have a slightly smaller download than PS4 users, but an exact number is yet to be confirmed.
We’ll update this article when more details get revealed.
Warzone 2.0 File Size on Xbox
On Xbox, Warzone 2.0 is confirmed to be a whopping 115.62 GB, meaning that you’ll need to give your hard drives a good clearout before installing the new Battle Royale.
Warzone 2.0 File Size on PC
Warzone 2.0 could potentially be at its largest on PC platforms, but an exact file size is yet to be confirmed. However, we’ve seen Warzone 1 reach as high as 175 GB on the platform, a figure we hope never to see the likes of again!
We’ll update this article when more details get revealed.
