Warzone 2 DMZ Pay to Win Bundle Has Fans Worried

The Pay to Win model has set its sights on Warzone 2 DMZ.

Warzone 2 DMZ Season 3 comes with many great additions to the survival extraction mode, but it also introduces some Pay to Win elements that players are worried about.

Pay to Win items usually significantly boost players’ gameplay in exchange for real-world currency, and they are no different in DMZ.

New DMZ Bundle Introduces Pay to Win Elements

The new DMZ Pay to Win Bomb Squad Operator Bundle introduces an Operator equipped with a free Medium Backpack and a weapon with a reduced Insured Weapon Cooldown timer.

Players will also have access to a fourth Active Duty Slot only available through the bundle.

Here is how each of these items affects gameplay and why players are considering it Pay to Win in DMZ:

  • EOD Specialist – Free Medium Backpack
    • Players that spawn with a free Medium Backpack automatically have more storage room for items than other players.
    • This means they can hold more keys and gain access to more loot early on.

  • Boom Proof – 15-Minute Insured Weapon Cooldown
    • Insured Weapons are your personal load-outs that you can take into DMZ. These slots are difficult to unlock and require players to complete multiple Faction Missions.
    • When a player fails to extract in DMZ with an Insured Weapon, the weapon will enter a cooldown before players can equip it again. This cooldown is usually 60 minutes.
    • With a 15-Minute cooldown, players with the Boom Proof only have to wait for 1/4th of the time to recover their weapon.
Bomb Squad Weapon
  • Fourth Active Duty Slot
    • Active Duty Slots are different operators players can customize and equip to enter DMZ.
    • This perk gives players an extra operator to customize and have if the other three fail to extract.

The advantages may seem minor, but this is the first time we see them in-game. There are already leaks that point to some skins coming with their own killstreaks and rare items.

Players Show Concern for Pay to Win Elements

Players are concerned that the advantages will grow as time progresses, and the Pay to Win model will begin to govern the dynamics of DMZ.

Despite the negative feelings toward these sorts of bundles from the community, many believe this trend will continue since plenty of others still purchase the bundles.

It’s still too early to see how directly this bundle will affect DMZ players, but it is worth keeping an eye on to see if any other boosts pop up later in the season.
