Infinity Ward has confirmed the 1v1 Gulag format will be returning to Warzone 2 in Season 2 via their official Twitter account.
The Gulag is currently set up as a 2v2 deathmatch. To redeploy you must kill both enemies on the opposing team or you can kill the jailer to release all four players.
The 2v2 Gulag has been a controversial feature with many players asking for the return of the original layout. The Call of Duty developer recently stated it was listening to the community on upcoming changes.
It appears that Infinity Ward has been taking note of the fanbase’s suggestions and more updates are on their way, including the return of the highly popular Resurgence mode!
In their latest announcement, they also state Season 2 will experience delays with a new date set for its launch.
What Is the 1v1 Gulag in Warzone 2?
The 1v1 Gulag will be similar to the current format, however, you will only need to fight one other person. This will make it much easier to redeploy as you won’t have to rely on another player.
As of now, it is not clear if there will be any other changes to the Gulag, but Infinity Ward has said that there will be more details to follow in the coming weeks.

In the week starting January 23, 2023, a blog post detailing all the upcoming Season 2 changes will be releasing.
This post will include a ton of changes to key features including the Gulag and the looting system. There could be quite a few major updates coming in Season 2!
There have also been calls for the return of a fan-favorite Warzone map. It will be interesting to see if the Battle Royale developer listens to these suggestions as well!
