There’s a new Warzone 2 movement trick making the rounds online that makes it possible to use Armor Plates while running.
Generally, Warzone 2.0 is being seen as a huge improvement over Warzone Caldera. The map is on-par or better than Verdansk, its visuals are the nicest we’ve seen from Activision yet, and the gunplay feels great.
However, there are some major issues with Warzone 2 that are garnering criticism online. One popular complaint is that the new Battle Royale removed the ability to plate up on the go, meaning players have to hide in a corner in order to refill their armor.

Thankfully, there’s a new workaround that’s quick and easy to use:
How to Equip Armor Plates While Running in Warzone 2
Warzone 2 players have found a new trick that lets them equip Armor Plates while running. Here’s how it’s done:
- First, hold Y/Triangle/G to start equipping Armor Plates.
- While plating, moveforward and hit jump.
- When your Operator lands, they’ll start entering a running animation.
- Continue to hit jump while plating to keep running.
Note: You may want to want to open your Settings – Controller – Gameplay menu and set Armor Plate Behavior to ‘Apply All’ in order to have your character plate up to full without the need for a second button press.
Here’s a great demonstration of how to equip Armor Plates while running in Warzone 2 by nahvitron on Twitter:
The user seems to have been the one to discover the technique, which will soon be a trick used by every player in the Battle Royale title.
Sometimes, the running animation doesn’t seem to come into effect until the second Armor Plate is used, but it’s still a great deal faster than just hiding to plate up.
By giving Operators the ability to move while plating, this movement tech will give players a huge edge over those who don’t know about it. Try it out, the next time you’re recovering from a gunfight with enemies still in the area!
