With Warzone 2.0 on the horizon, there’s one question on players’ minds: will consoles finally get an FOV slider?
A field-of-view slider, or FOV slider for short, widens the player’s vision. With a higher FOV, you can see more around you, upping your chances of survival.
An FOV slider has been part of Warzone on PC since the beginning, a difference which has led to many players clamoring for its inclusion into the console version of the game.
Despite demands from prominent YouTubers and regular players alike, Warzone has still not added an FOV slider to consoles. But with Warzone 2 releasing later this year, console gamers’ lucks might be about to change.
Will Warzone 2 Include An FOV Slider On Consoles?
There’s lots of conflicting information as to whether or not Warzone 2.0 will be bringing an FOV slider to consoles.
First things first, we don’t have definitive proof that Warzone 2 will or won’t have an FOV slider. However, we do have statements from reliable leakers, developers at Raven Software, and clues from Call of Duty: Vanguard that all seem to contradict each other.
This makes the speculation on whether Warzone 2 will include an FOV slider a messy business.
In a 2022 interview, two senior Warzone devs revealed the reasons for Warzone’s missing console FOV slider. Unfortunately for last-gen players, one reason was hardware limitations that come with the PS4 and Xbox One.
While this may seem like bad news, it’s possible that things may change by the time Warzone 2.0 launches. As more people get their hands on current-gen consoles that can handle an FOV slider, the likelihood of one getting added goes up.
Despite developers denying it, reputable leaker @TheGhostOfHope has reported that Warzone 2 too will have an FOV slider. Although unconfirmed, this leak could be backed up by some design decisions in Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Developers from across Activision’s Call of Duty studios have commented on the growing integration of Warzone and the main series. The Call of Duty Blog has even confirmed that Warzone 2.0 will share an engine with 2022’s Modern Warfare 2.
With Warzone’s ever-growing overlap with the main series growing year on year, it makes sense to look at Vanguard for some clues as to Warzone 2’s potential FOV slider.
Call of Duty: Vanguard launched with an FOV slider on consoles, following in the footsteps of Black Ops: Cold War the previous year.
Could this growing integration finally lead to the inclusion of an FOV slider on consoles? Hopefully we will get confirmation in the months leading up to Warzone 2.0’s launch date.
