It looks as though Walmart is restocking PS5 & Xbox Series X/S consoles without shipping past orders, and a lot of buyers aren’t happy about it!
When it comes to buying a next-gen console, it’s still a struggle even almost 9 months on from the initial release. So when major retailers like Walmart offer gamers a new chance at a PS5 or Xbox, many jump at the chance.
Of course, thanks to the ongoing demand for next-gen stock, only a select few get a real shot at the device before it goes out of stock. But even those buyers aren’t happy with Walmart’s recent approach to PS5 or Xbox Series X/S sales.
Recently, Walmart had a major PS5 and Xbox Series X/S restock on August 5. And while this might seem like a good thing, many fans believe the retailer is selling consoles that it doesn’t have.
Although the PS5 stock shortage may soon be over as Sony secures enough chips to build consoles, Walmart appears to be acting like it’s already done.
Walmart PS5/Xbox Series X/S Order Delays
Ordering a PS5 or Xbox from Walmart seems more like being on a waiting list. It seems that new orders are getting delayed until a September estimated delivery date.
Right now we’re seeing regular Walmart PS5 and Xbox restocks at the major retailer. But this is no cause for celebration.
After all, some Walmart customers are still waiting on their PS5 orders from July 2021! So it’s sure to make a lot of gamers very unhappy to see that Walmart is continuing to offer new PS5 purchases without shipping out the most recent orders.
On top of that certain Walmart stores in the US have PS5 stock in-store, leading to customers reporting they just walked in and bought a console. This is only a very select group of stores, but it shows that the retailer isn’t the best at being consistent with its supply.
Customers are also reporting that Walmart is canceling their orders altogether, even 24 hours later. Twitter user Geovanni Espinal II posted about their experience online:
“I was able to secure one yesterday at 3:20pm. Walmart canceled my order today at 3:14 pm for, “unusual activity”. Smh so frustrating. So now I don’t get one and they couldn’t do anything about it.”
Other consumers report issues with the Walmart app freezing, and the website displaying nothing but technical difficulty errors. Some users state that the PS5 restock didn’t even appear to go live before being out of stock once more.
Walmart PS5 & Xbox Series X/S Delivery – September 2021
Meanwhile, restock tracker Lord Restock reports that some of this week’s Walmart purchases had an estimated delivery date of September 11! This means that new buyers will be waiting over a month for their PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles!
“What Walmart likes to do is, have people place orders before Walmart even receives their shipment,” Lord Restock reports. “So like if they are expected to get X amount of stock from sony. They sell a week or two before they actually have the shipment. And then if that number ends up being less, people get screwed”
Despite this, new PS5 restocks are happening at GameStop, Best Buy, PlayStation Direct, Target, and more this week. So why wait so long for your order to arrive?
We’ve also got new Xbox Series X/S restocks at Best Buy, Antonline, Microsoft and more soon!
