The mid-season update is finally here and Vanguard fans are making themselves heard after the addition of the disappointing new Void Zombies objective.
Ever since launch, Vanguard fans have been more than a little upset about the state of the game’s Zombies mode. After the relative success of Black Ops Cold War Zombies, it was exciting to see Treyarch in the developer seat once again.
Unfortunately, it appears that the Cold War developer hasn’t had enough time to prepare content for Vanguard after finishing its own game. And because of this Vanguard’s Zombies offering is a reskin of a few Multiplayer maps, without the round-based aspect of classic Zombies experiences.
After only a day with the new game, fans were writing Der Anfang off as a disappointing Zombies experience.
And although there’s now a new Der Anfang Easter Egg to complete, it acts as more of a prologue to what’s to come later in the game’s lifespan.
COD Zombies Fans Disappointed With Void Objective in Der Anfang
If you are a Call of Duty Zombies fan who loves Shi No Numa, you might have been excited for the Der Anfang update. Unfortunately, it doesn’t quite live up to the hype.
In its mid-season update, Sledgehammer Games teases “survival gameplay” coming to classic Zombies map Shi No Numa.
Many players believed that this could finally be the round-based experience we were waiting for. But new leaks suggest that Vanguard Zombies’ first round-based map is coming well after launch.
Instead, Vanguard Zombies’ Void objective in Der Anfang takes players to a mini version of Shi No Numa once again. While there, Zombies fans can enjoy some traditional round-based gameplay, but without many of the things that made Shi No Numa great.
There are no Wall Buys, no Mystery Box, no doors to open nor areas to explore. Players can use a Pack-a-Punch machine to upgrade their guns at least, but otherwise there’s little change.
At least surviving for 3 rounds will give you 5000 bonus essence. And if you manage to make it to 12, Perks will no longer drop below Tier 2 upon getting downed.
“I am crazy disappointed,” Reddit user ChamAramis writes. “Like, this isn’t even the bare minimum. It seems that they just took Blitz and removed the timer and called it a day.”
Due to the cramped constraints of the Shi No Numa map portion, Void becomes unplayable at higher rounds anyway. Not only is it hard to train Zombies behind you without getting caught but the horde becomes quite the bullet sponge.
At least you can now kill Zombies as Captain Levi Ackerman from Attack on Titan.
However, fans are already poking fun at the new ‘Dollar Store’ Levi skin in Vanguard.
Meanwhile, Call of Duty Warzone just got a new console performance fix, for all those who have been struggling to rn the Battle Royale title.
