Call of Duty’s latest title might look pretty, but players are reporting poor visibility in the Vanguard Champion Hill Alpha.
We’re getting mixed impressions from the new Call of Duty Vanguard Alpha so far. Although many gamers are happy that Vanguard looks stunning and returns to the exceptional Modern Warfare engine, it’s not all good news.
Since late last year, players have been complaining about poor visibility in Black Ops Cold War. And now, it seems that those same issues are arising once more with Vanguard.
While many fans are excited at the potential of a next-gen Call of Duty title, Vanguard is turning heads for all the wrong reasons. Right now, the Vanguard Champion Hill Alpha is already boring fans.
Unfortunately, the Champion Hill game mode has a big camping problem. And Vanguard’s poor visibility in-game only makes camping a more viable strategy!
Vanguard Low Visibility Issues in Alpha
Players are reporting that Call of Duty Vanguard is suffering from poor visibility issues in its new Alpha.
With a fast-paced game like Call of Duty, visibility is key. There’s nothing more frustrating than dying to an enemy that was right in front of you, but one that you couldn’t see.
The issue is so bad that some Warzone players are changing settings to improve visibility, giving them a massive advantage over enemies.
With the Vanguard Champion Hill maps all being fairly drab, it’s often hard to pick out enemy players against the constant grey and brown backdrops. And while this is fine for realistic gameplay lovers, core COD players are finding it frustrating.
A new post on the CODVanguard subreddit criticizes the poor visibility issues in the ongoing Alpha:
“I have to say so far this exceeds my expectations in terms of graphical fidelity, sound design, and gunplay,” one Reddit user writes. “But I can’t be the only one who feels like the lighting is awful and the contrast between player characters and their uniforms and the environment is so minimal that it can be quite difficult to determine where enemies are.”
The sentiment is shared by many users on the subreddit who find low visibility to be Vanguard’s biggest issue. However, others are quick to point out that the Modern Warfare Alpha had similar problems with visibility.
Just like the 2019 title, we can only hope that Vanguard’s visibility will improve at launch. And we’ve even got the upcoming Vanguard Open Beta where we could see improvements.
It certainly doesn’t help that getting shot in Vanguard will darken your screen temporarily either. But there’s a new Vanguard mechanic that could be an even bigger issue than visibility!
Thankfully, we didn’t see any of these visibility issues in our first look at the Vanguard Campaign. Perhaps the fact that they’re Multiplayer exclusive means that Sledgehammer can fix the problem fast.
