Sledgehammer Games has improved the Vanguard Beta for players, addressing a number of major problems in the latest update.
The Call of Duty Vanguard experience hasn’t exactly had the smoothest of starts. Although players are enjoying getting stuck into the action, some major concerns have also cropped up.
Despite some of the game’s issues involving balancing changes, such as the OP Armor Plate Field Upgrade, there are other problems plaguing the experience.
Players are even reporting lag spikes, packet loss & high ping issues. Whilst an Open Beta is specifically designed to flag up these kinds of issues, the quantity of these reports is a little unsettling.
Recently, Sledgehammer Games did vow to fix these problems. Now, it looks like SHG has done considerable work to improve the experience for both Xbox & PC players this time around.
Call of Duty Vanguard Beta Update
Player feedback was unanimous with regards to the last Vanguard Open Beta. Interestingly, the majority of players reported issues with regard to game visibility.
Thanks to the efforts of SHG, visibility has been massively improved for the Vanguard Beta in the latest update. In particular, many were disappointed with Vanguard’s visibility on the map, Red Star.
Although it’s worth noting the fix is only a temporary measure, allowing players to focus on gameplay. However, here are the following changes directly from the official Sledgehammer Games blog post:
Visibility: Distortion has been turned off globally to improve visibility when Aiming Down Sights. Since we’ve disabled distortion globally, this will also affect the appearance of fire and explosions throughout the Beta and reduce overall visual fidelity. This change is a temporary solve to mitigate visibility issues so players can focus on gameplay.Sledgehammer Games
Armor Field Upgrade
Additionally, Beta participants also reported on the effectiveness of the Armor Field Upgrade in Vanguard. Whilst the Field Upgrade was providing players with way too much protection, this has now been dialed back significantly in the new update.
Armor: Increased recharge rate from Fast to Slow. Decreased Armor health from 150hp to 50hp.Sledgehammer Games
There are a huge array of weapons, killstreaks, field upgrades & perks in the Vanguard Beta which aren’t being used to their full extent due to the overpowered nature of the Armor Field Upgrade. Hopefully, this update will allow players to use more variety in their loadout.
Note from our Audio Team: We’re aware of volume and mixing issues and have discovered more bugs thanks to your feedback. While most changes won’t be made during Open Beta, we’re hard at work balancing everything for launch to fix bugs related to weapon audio, atmospheric audio, and more. We will continue to tune audio based on feedback as it rolls in – so keep it coming.Sledgehammer Games
Alongside Visibility and Armor concerns, Audio was amongst one of the biggest problems in the Vanguard Open Beta. However, SHG is aware of the issue and is working on a fix ready for Vanguard’s launch day.
We hope that players are enjoying the latest Vanguard Beta experience, we already know a number of details regarding Vanguard’s official launch including the first Vanguard Zombies Map ‘Ritual of the Dead’. Although a new leak suggests that Vanguard will not have a Zombies Map at launch.
However, Vanguard still has more changes to make before it’s ready, with many players concerned with the Vanguard Beta SBMM.
Additionally, there’s also the new Suppression Mechanic, which looks broken already. We will continue to keep you updated with regards to the current state of Call of Duty Vanguard, both during the Open Beta and on release day.
