To unlock the Crown faction and its missions in DMZ Season 2, players need to purchase or already own Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

Despite other Faction Missions being completely free to access, only MW2 owners will get access to the new quests and their exclusive rewards.

Unfortunately, while DMZ is still a Free-to-Play game, not all features will be available without opening your wallets from Season 2 onward.

Thankfully, access to the new DMZ and Resurgence map, Ashika Island will be completely free.

This new change is sure to be an unpopular move from Activision, especially if future factions are locked behind similar real money requirements.

Do You Have to Pay for Crown Faction in DMZ?

Yes, the new Crown faction is locked behind a paywall in the otherwise Free-to-Play DMZ. In order to get access to the new missions and rewards, a player needs to own Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

The new Crown faction cannot be purchased separately and instead will only come included with a purchase of MW2 2022.

Those who have previously bought the game will get immediate access to the new missions on the MW2 Season 2 release date.
