EA Sports recently announced the development of UFC 5 – the sequel to UFC 4 and the next mixed martial arts fighting game over three years in the making.
UFC 5 is switching to the Frostbite engine (previously Ignite) and will introduce a brand-new damage system and doctor stoppages.
Here’s everything we know so far about the new MMA video game:
UFC 5 Reveal Date
EA Sports UFC 5 will be officially revealed on September 9, 2023, at 8 AM PDT / 11 AM EDT.
This reveal date was confirmed at the bottom of the UFC 293 poster, with UFC 5 being advertised for the event.

UFC 5 Cover Athlete Teased
EA Sports has teased Alexander Volkanovski as the UFC 5 cover athlete.
The recent teaser trailer at Gamescom 2023 shows what appears to be Volkanovski’s character in the octagon.
Although we can’t see his face, the character appears to have the same tattoo as Volk on his right arm, leaving many to believe he will be the UFC 5 cover athlete.

It’s worth noting the game was first announced on July 8, with Volk headlining UFC 290 that same day against Yair Rodriguez.
It’s also possible that UFC 5 will have two cover athletes, just like UFC 4, but this is purely speculation. Volk and Adesanaya are the two most likely candidates if there are two cover athletes.
Either way, it won’t be too long until we find out, as the cover will also be shown as part of the reveal on September 9.
UFC 5 Release Date Speculation
EA hasn’t yet confirmed the UFC 5 release date, but we expect the game to be released sometime before the end of 2023, most likely in October or November.
The full reveal will take place on September 9, and the time between reveal and release is usually no longer than a few months.
It’s also worth noting that the past two UFC games have been released on a Friday, and we imagine UFC 5 will be the same.
UFC Game | Reveal Date | Release Date | Time between (roughly) |
UFC 2 | November 10, 2015 | Tuesday, March 15, 2016 | 4 months |
UFC 3 | November 3, 2017 | Friday, February 2, 2018 | 3 months |
UFC 4 | July 11, 2020 | Friday, August 14, 2020 | 1 month |
UFC 5 | September 9, 2023 | TBC |
How Much Will UFC 5 Cost?
UFC 5 is expected to cost $69.99/£69.99 at launch. Pre-orders will likely go live immediately after the game is revealed.
EA Play members may also get a 10% discount and a 10-hour free game trial.
This is the same price as other upcoming EA Sports video games, such as FC 24.
UFC 4 was priced at $59.99 for release, although next-gen games now tend to have a higher price tag of $70.
