Over the last few days, Treyarch saw fit to nerf the amount of weapon XP players could earn in Black Ops Cold War Zombies. Now, the game’s developer appears to be addressing the issue – but it might be too late.
At present, fans are enjoying a double XP week in Black Ops Cold War to celebrate Nuketown ’84’s release. As a nice bonus, that double XP also applies to the game’s Zombies mode – or at least, it did.
Not long after the timer launched, players discovered that the Zombies boost to weapon XP was actually massively increased. Many fans enjoyed leveling up their guns to max in a single game or two of the undead horde mode.
Shortly thereafter, Treyarch quickly made changes to the mode that lowers the XP gain for Zombies players. Unfortunately, the developer appears to have reacted too hard, and now players complain that weapon XP is far too slow.
In a recent post on the Black Ops Cold War subreddit, one user points out that only solo players are experiencing such low weapon XP in Zombies. And 3 days later, the developer has begun to reply.
Treyarch Reacts to Broken Zombies Weapon XP
Just a matter of hours ago, Community Manager FoxhoundFPS A.K.A Josh Torres commented on the weapon XP issue. In a brief statement, the Treyarch employee thanks the fans for pointing out these issues to him.
According to the CM, the problem with the Zombies weapon XP has been identified by the developer. What’s more, a solution is coming, although it may not be as fast as players would like.
“Hello, thank you for the tag and to all the others who tagged here too,” the Community Manager writes. “I spoke with the team, and we have identified an issue that was causing lower than intended Weapon XP in both solo Zombies matches and later Zombies rounds. We are looking to release a fix for both of these as soon as possible.”
In a follow-up comment, Torres promises that the game will have more double XP events in the future. This, alongside a lack of a fix for the issue before the event ends tomorrow, suggests that solo Zombies players are out of luck this time around.
Many users are angry at the lack of compensation for their missed double XP this time around. At the end of the day though, while an extension would be appreciated, it seems unlikely that Treyarch would bother dropping one just to cater to the small community that is solo Zombies players.
For those looking for the fastest way to get weapon XP in Black Ops Cold War Zombies post-nerf, we’ve got you covered. Players can also glitch themselves to get unlimited Cold War Zombies rounds and XP, should they choose.
Right now, Treyarch is likely hard at work fixing the game’s XP issue, while preparing for its next content launch. Already we’re seeing leaks for a Black Ops Cold War Nuke in the upcoming Dropkick mode.
But XP isn’t the only thing needing fixing, as players are currently glitching outside of Cold War’s Nuketown. It’s clear that this game needs a few fixes, but luckily it’s still a very fun experience in the meantime.
