If you’re playing solo, having the right Spirit Ash is essential.
Spirit Ashes allow players some breathing room in fights where every second and hit means all the difference.
Here’s where you can find the best ones to fully upgrade to have by your side.
If you’re struggling with finding the right talisman, then maybe a legendary talisman might be for you.

Top 5 Best Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring to Upgrade
These are the five best Spirit Ashes that players will be able to summon in Elden Ring.
5. Lhutel the Headless

Lhutel the Headless is the leader of the Walking Mausoleum soldiers that you sometimes see when going to duplicate a remembrance at the mausoleums.
They can vanish and reappear next to you and Lhutel the Headless makes full use of this skill. Her lance is capable of causing death blight, and her shield can withstand most attacks.
Even if some of the endgame bosses will have trouble breaking her poise.
Players will be able to find them in the Tombsward Catacombs in Weeping Peninsula as a boss drop. Just head to the end and defeat the Cemetary Shade, and Lhutel the Headless will be yours to summon.

4. Redmane Knight Ogha

Redmane Knight Ogha is one of the closest soldiers that Starscrouge Radahn ever had.
He learned gravity alongside Radahnm and can imbue his great longbow with gravity magic.
If players use the War Cry Ash of War, he will send down a flurry of gravity arrows on enemies, similar to what Radahn does when first entering his battle.
He’s a great summon for attack from a distance and can be a great ally during the Elden Beast fight.
Players will be able to find Ogha in the War-Dead Catacombs in Caeild as a boss drop. Make your way to where you fought Radahn and head to the northwest.
You’ll find the catacomb entrance here. Redmane Knight Ogha will drop from a Putrid Tree Spirit.

3. Greatshield Soldier

The Greatshield Soldier is a group of 5 soldiers that use great shields to block incoming damage from enemies.
So it might be odd to include it so high up on a list, but once you use them, it’s hard to go back.
They protect you from a lot of massive attacks that bosses do. If they have their shield planted, then very little can damage them.
Players looking for more of a distraction can use these due to their high grit and ability to stay alive.
When they have an opening, they will throw a few black flame pots, so they can do some damage even though they specialize in defense.
We recommend using this Spirit Ash when fighting an enemy with many successive attacks.
Players will be able to find the Greatshield Soldier spirit ash in Nokron, Eternal City, in one of the graveyard areas.
2. Black Knife Tiche

Black Knife Tiche is one of the most potent Spirit Ashes that players will ever use in Elden Ring. Their ability lets them throw out a slash forward that quickly eats away at any enemy’s health.
Even endgame bosses can get caught in this attack and suffer considerable losses. Black Knife Tiche also has a slam attack that staggers even Malenia, Blade of Miquella.
So if you’re looking for a Spirit Ash that will take the first attack and remain close to your enemy, then Black Knife Tiche is perfect.
Players will be able to obtain Black Knife Tiche after drafting Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader.
1. Mimic Tear

The Mimic Tear is as good as you make it. It’s a copy of your whole build that can heal itself and use potions.
So having it on your side can give you a considerable advantage if your build is adequately equipped for the battles before you.
This mimic tear really shines when you use builds like the Vampire Build or Frost Mage build that use status effects to weaken bosses. With the Mimic Tear, you have double the build-up for those status effects.
The recent nerf did lower its health quite a bit, but it’s still the best overall Spirit Ash.
You’ll be able to find the Mimic Tear in the Night’s Sacred Ground while completing the Ranni questline.

These are the absolute best spirit ashes that players will find in Elden Ring and the ones you should focus on upgrading first.
You’ll need to talk to Roderika in the Roundtable Hold to upgrade Spirit Ashes. You’ll need to use Gravewort items that can usually be found in caves and catacombs for her to perform spirit tuning.
