It seems that Thor, God of Thunder, has a controversial design in God of War Ragnarok, despite it being accurate to his lore.
Yesterday was a big day for Sony fans. Not only did we get the incredible reveals of Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine for PS5, we finally got more God of War news.
PlayStation saved the best for last, with a brand-new God of War Ragnarok trailer. And after months of waiting, we got a new look at Kratos and Atreus in their latest adventure.
In the new footage, Santa Monica Studio even teases an upcoming encounter with Thor, something that has been hinted at for quite some time. Now though, the developer has released Thor’s full design in Ragnarok, and not all fans are happy.
God of War Thor Design Is Causing Controversy
It didn’t take long for Thor to begin trending on Twitter, with gamers moaning about the God of Thunder being fat in Ragnarok.
God of War’s Thor isn’t the MCU Chris Hemsworth lookalike that it seems many gamers were expecting. Instead, this iteration of Thor is more accurate to his mythology.
Known for his red hair and beard, Thor in mythology was a heavy drinker and a lover of feasts. While the God of Thunder was also a mighty warrior, this burly design looks far more accurate to his lore than some gamers would like to admit.
Many Twitter users are taking angrily to their keyboards to complain about the fat Thor design in God of War Ragnarok.
And although other fans are quick to voice their support for the mythology-accurate Thor, it’s sad to see so many people unhappy with the decision.
Other users are also comparing the look to Thor’s appearance in Avengers: Endgame, believing that to be the true inspiration behind his appearance.
However, we very much doubt that Santa Monica Studio decided to take inspiration from the MCU for its upcoming project…
Of course, if you’re unable to obtain a next-gen console by God of War Ragnarok’s release date, at least you can pick it up on PS4 for the time being.
We have a lot of PS5 restocks dropping very soon for anyone still on the hunt, however!
