The Weeknd is the latest artist getting added to Fortnite, and he’s available today – but will he get a fully-fledged concert?
Fortnite has been host to a ton of incredible artists over the years. We’ve had full concerts by the likes of Marshmello, Ariana Grande, and Travis Scott, collaborations with The Kid Laroi, live events with Eminem, and more!
Now, just days after Marshall Mathers showed off the new Fortnite Festival mode, The Weeknd is arriving in-game. But this time, don’t expect to see him in action quite as much.
Is There a The Weeknd Concert?
No, The Weeknd is not getting his own concert in Fortnite and will instead appear as a skin in the ‘Opening Night’ Battle Pass for Fortnite Festival.
The Canadian singer/songwriter will be available as the new Guitar Hero-esque mode’s first collab, before another artist presumably joins the fun in the mode’s second pass.
Although that means that you’ll be able to unlock The Weeknd and play as him on stage, it may disappoint many hardcore fans that the artist won’t be performing live like many others before him.
On the upside though, you will be able to play as The Weeknd and play songs by the artist in the mode – effectively creating your own mini concert for you and your friends!
And you’ll be able to repeat the experience over and over, so isn’t that better in some ways?
How to Get The Weeknd Skin
To get The Weeknd skin in Fortnite, you must purchase the premium tier of the ‘Opening Night’ Fortnite Festival Season Pass for 1800 V-Bucks.
Then, players must grind to the end of the Season Pass by earning 11,000 points.
You’ll need to level up the new pass until it’s complete to unlock The Weeknd, which you’ll have until February 22, 2024, to do.
Alternatively, players can purchase The Weeknd Combat in the Fortnite Item Shop right now for 1800 V-Bucks.
It’s worth noting that this is as much as the entire Festival Pass but you’ll be able to get the skin straight away with no grinding.
Fortnite reports that Festival Battle Pass content is not exclusive to the limited-time pass, so even the regular version of The Weeknd may appear later for a higher price.
Therefore, if you miss your chance or just don’t fancy buying the expensive Battle Pass, you may still have a chance to unlock the artist’s Outfit in-game.
