Although Sony was not in attendance at E3 this year, it looks like the Last of Us 2’s release date may have accidentally been spoiled by Ashley Johnson, who voices main protagonist Ellie in the Naughty dog game.
The hype has been building for this game as just last week the game’s composer Gustavo Santaolalla released a brief preview of the soundtrack.
The Last of Us 2 takes place five years after the main game with Ellie reprising her role as the protagonist, but now taking a leading role. Although partner protagonist Joel is in the game it’s unclear as to what his role will be.
If the game is anything like its predecessor then we are in for another treat. The Last of Us was a breath of fresh air for survival horror games.
Rumored The Last of Us Part II Release Date
In an interview on the Critical Role YouTube channel, Brian W. Foster conducted an interview with Ashley Johnson, who is the voice actor for Ellie.
At around 1:07:20, Brian asks the actress “When’s it [The Last of Us 2] coming out by the way?”. To which Ashley hesitantly mutters “I think it’s coming out Fe…”, clearly hinting towards a February release date.
Although it’s worth noting that this is simply speculation. There is no confirmed release date for the Naughty dog sequel as of the time of this article.
There have been many speculated dates from multiple different sources, so we advise our readers to take each one with a pinch of salt until its confirmation.
Moreover, this leak will also lineup with the previous rumour that the Last of Us 2 was delayed until 2020, following an anticipated 2019 release.
As well as being a highly anticipated release, it has been rumoured that this game will be a PS5 launch title, meaning that the game will become available at the same time as the brand-new PS5.
This would mean brand new specifications, allowing players to get more frames per second, graphical upgrades, 3D audio, and more.
