RUMOR: The Last of Us 2 Trailer & Release Date Announcement Coming This Week

The Last of Us 2 Release Date

UPDATE – 11:30 pm BST, May 27th: Jason Schreier, a reliable industry insider from Kotaku, has confirmed on Reset Era that The Last of Us 2 is scheduled to release later this year. He has no idea whether or not a trailer will air later this week, however.

A new rumor has surfaced online suggesting The Last of Us 2 will receive a new trailer later this week. In addition, Sony will reportedly unveil the highly speculative release date for the upcoming sequel on PS4.

New The Last of Us Part 2 Trailer Rumored for This Week

Naughty Dog will release a new trailer for the highly anticipated addition to the franchise later this week, according to ESGamereactor sources.

It’s unclear as to what will be featured within the upcoming Last of Us 2 trailer. However, one thing we can expect, according to rumors, is for Joel and Ellie to be featured in some way, shape, or form.

In fact, the upcoming trailer is rumored to showcase the exact day Joel and Ellie will return to PS4. Previous leaks and speculation have hinted at the arrival of the game Fall 2019. That has NOT been confirmed via Naughty Dog as of yet, however.

A trailer for the game coming prior to E3 2019 also lines up with previous reports, courtesy of Reset Era user “Aokiji,” who’s been correct on a few occasions in the past. Although it does seem as if a new trailer will air later this week, we advise fans to take all rumors and leaks with the utmost of scepticism.

The Last of Us 2 Release Date Announcement Rumored

Sony will also announce The Last of Us 2’s release date later this week, according to the rumor. Many believe it will be later this year but are still awaiting reassurance.

Many expect Sony to reveal the rumored information on Wednesday, May 29th. Following the announcement from Kojima Productions that Death Stranding will be revealed, May 29th has certainly raised a few eyebrows as to what other surprises are in store.

Sony recently confirmed that the game would still be releasing on PS4, despite confirmation of an array of different details about the PS5 console. That’s not to say the title won’t also arrive on the PS5, however.

It appears as though development for The Last of Us 2 has finished, or at least coming to an end. A tweet from Neil Druckmann, Vice President of Naughty Dog, back in April confirmed that the final scene had been wrapped up.
