Back in December 2018, a supposed EU developer who claims to have been working on an AAA PS5 launch title made a post on Pastebin claiming to have leaked details of the PlayStation 5, and now the post is starting to gain some attention. Eagle-eyed fans have only recently noticed the inclusion of The Last of Us 2 Remastered supposedly releasing as a PS5 launch title.
The usual red flags are there… Who is the source? Where have they gotten this information from? While we are unable to identify their track record, this leak seems highly dubious.
Prior to proceeding any further, we stress that the information seems rather farfetched, nor has there been any official confirmation via Sony as of yet. Please take the following with great skepticism.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered PlayStation 5 Launch Title Rumoured
According to the anonymous source, The Last of Us 2 Remastered will be released as a PlayStation 5 launch title, in addition to a plethora of other games. Gran Turismo 7 and PUBG Remastered, for example.
While The Last of Us 2 is yet to be released, this apparent leak has raised a few eyebrows. Of course, Naughty Dog did introduce a remastered version of The Last Of Us on PlayStation 4, however a DLC was also added to the mix.
While The Last of Us was remastered over a year after the release of the original, it’s likely that the source was merely referring to an upscaled version for the PS5.
Just to clarify, The Last of Us 2 releasing as a PS5 launch title doesn’t necessarily suggest players will have to wait until the console’s release until they can get their hands on the game. For now, everything seems to be pointing in the direction of TLOU2 arriving on PS4 later this year.
The Last of Us 2 releasing as a PS5 launch title does line up with other details Gaming INTEL has received, as posted back in April 2018.
We must take all leaks with a pinch of salt until Naughty Dog or PlayStation announce anything themselves, however.
Legitimate or not, it’s worth taking note that this information, in particular, should be deemed potentially subject to change, as companies are known to alter their plans every now and then. Either way, time will tell as to whether there’s any credibility to this rumor or not.
