Finally, after months of waiting, The Last of Us Part 2 is getting its long-awaited PS5 upgrade.
The Last of Us 2 was one of the final major releases to drop before the PS5 became available. It’s a truly beautiful game that acted as a send-off for the PS4 to many gamers.
However, you could tell that the title was truly pushing the 7-year-old hardware to its limits upon release. And although the game still looked stunning, we’ve been waiting for The Last of Us Part 2’s PS5 upgrade since the next-gen consoles launched.
It’s now been 11 months since The Last of Us Part 2 hit store shelves. And now, gamers will be able to start anew with Ellie’s incredible adventure, in a smooth 60 FPS.
If you’re still looking for a next-gen console, here are all the PS5 restocks coming this week May 17-23!
But PS5 stock shortages could be over soon, as Sony confirms it’s ramping up production.
What’s New in The Last of Us Part 2 Enhanced Performance Patch?
We finally have The Last of Us Part 2 PS5 upgrade we’ve been waiting for – but what’s new in the Enhanced Performance patch?
According to Naughty Dog’s Director of Communications Arne Meyer, fans have quite a lot to look forward to when booting up The Last of Us Part 2 again.
After hearing passionate requests from the game’s community, Meyer confirms the team has been hard at work making the game play better than ever on PS5.
With a new trailer promising enhanced resolution and 60 FPS, it’s a big upgrade for Naughty Dog’s title. But you’ve got to know how to take advantage of the new update.
Excitingly, we just got the release date for GTA 5’s Expanded & Enhanced PS5 patch too!
Patch 1.08 for The Last of Us Part II will release later today. When installed, be sure to head into your game’s Display options and choose between the Framerate Target of 60 FPS.
The Last of Us Part II PS5 Upgrades
But that’s not all for The Last of Us, Meyer confirms. Not only is Part 2 getting boosted load times, courtesy of the PS5 hardware, but the development team has been working on further future upgrades too.
“The team has been digging into the PS5 hardware and the possibilities it unlocks since launch last year and we’re excited about what the future holds. This patch is just the first step of working on the PS5. We’ll let you know when we’ve got more news to share!”
In case you hadn’t heard, there’s also another Last of Us remake coming to PS5! And a leaker reveals that The Last of Us PS5 remake will take advantage of the next-gen console too.
And if that wasn’t enough, we heard our first tease for The Last of Us Part 3 straight from Naughty Dog itself. The developer also promises that ‘several cool things’ are coming soon.
Personally, we can’t wait to hear more. And with new reports indicating that Sony is working on an incredible number of new first-party PS5 games, it’s a great time to be a PlayStation fan.
