Naughty Dog has finally broken the silence about its much anticipated The Last of Us: Part 2 Multiplayer.
The Last of Us: Part 2 launched back in 2020. Since then, fans clamored for a multiplayer experience.
This, of course, is surprising to no one. Critics and fans alike praised the first entry in the series. This praise came not only for its groundbreaking story but also for its addicting multiplayer.
Naughty Dog in the meantime has been busy with other projects. In fact, Naughty Dog’s Co-President, Neil Druckmann even confirmed that The Last of Us: Part 3 is in the talks within the studio.
Additionally, several leaks suggest that an Uncharted The Naughty Dog PC Collection could release on December 7.
With all these projects going on there has been complete silence about The Last of Us: Part 2 Multiplayer. Due to this, many thought the studio shelved the project altogether, until now.
The Last of Us: Part 2 Multiplayer Update
After a long wait, there is finally an official word about this anticipated game.
To celebrate The Last of Us Day Rochelle Snyder, Naughty Dog’s Sr. Manager Communications, stated on their official blog that the developer is “working on it.”
The studio confirms it is currently giving its team some time to make this project a reality. Apparently, it is quite an ambitious one.
“For now, we’ll say that we love what the team is developing and want to give them time to build out their ambitious project, we’ll reveal more when it’s ready!”
Furthermore, Rochelle added that the team is ramping up and adding MP-related positions to their staff.
Lastly, this new information confirms that the developer will show more of The Last of Us: Part 2 Multiplayer once the project is more fleshed out.
A Long Wait Until The Last of Us Part 2 Multiplayer Release Date?
Unfortunately, our bet is a solid yes.
According to the latest information available from Naughty Dog, it seems like the project might still need considerable time before it sees the light of day.
Naughty Dog has certainly been quite busy with upcoming PS5 Uncharted and TLoU projects.
The studio recently released PS5 upgrades for The Last of Us: Part 2 which pushed the game to a smooth 60 FPS.
To add to the list, there is also a The Last of Us remake programmed to release for PlayStation 5. This remake aims to revisit the game and elevate it with PS5’s hardware capacity.
Naughty Dog is even in talks of a possible The Last of Us: Part 3. Although little is known, Neil Druckmann talked about it during an interview.
Currently, Naughty Dog was only establishing ongoing development of the multiplayer, but it was not ready to showcase anything yet.
Adding to that, the communication confirms that more will be shown once everything is closer to completion.
Considering that the developer is hiring new positions and ramping up, it looks like Naughty Dog is going full force with this project, which is great news for all The Last of Us fans out there.
