Naughty Dog’s brand new blockbuster PlayStation 4 title, The Last of Us Part II, has achieved another record.
The highly-anticipated sequel has shot to the top of the UK sales charts to become Sony’s fastest-selling PS4 game of all time.
The Last of Us 2 has narrowly beaten a previous Naughty Dog title to achieve this record. The action-horror game surpassed Uncharted 4’s opening week sales back in 2016 by just over 1%.
As GamesIndustry.Biz reports, this data doesn’t involve digital sales. However, once they take this data into account, it’s possible that The Last of Us 2 is much bigger.
Data published by GamesIndustry.Biz also indicates that The Last of Us Part 2 is far bigger than its PS3 predecessor. It appears as though launch sales have increased by 76%, although you have to bear in mind that PlayStation 4 has far more players.
Sales are also 40% higher than the previous best title, Animal Crossing: New Horizons – which took the Nintendo community by storm earlier this year.
While its predecessor was officially voted as the PlayStation Blog’s Game of the Decade, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to see TLOU2 rocket sky-high.
However, the prospect of it becoming the fast-selling PS4 release in history might have been a bold prediction prior to its launch.
