Treyarch just announced the new ‘The Archon’ map coming to Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies in Season 5.
COD Zombies has been suffering on Vanguard due to the new approach Treyarch decided to take this year. Thankfully, their last map, the remake of Shi No Numa, seemed like a return to form for the popular Call of Duty survival mode.
But will The Archon follow in similar steps? Here is everything we know about the new Vanguard Zombies map.
The Archon Vanguard Zombies Final Map Release Date
The new Zombies ‘The Archon’ map is coming to Call of Duty Vanguard Season 5 on August 24.
Season 5 of Call of Duty: Vanguard is scheduled to start immediately after the end of Season 4.
What Time Does The Archon Go Live in Vanguard Zombies?
The Archon map will be live on August 24 at the following times:
- 9 AM PST – Los Angeles
- 10 AM MDT – Denver
- 11 AM CDT – Chicago
- 12 PM ET – New York
- 5 PM BST – London
The map will technically launch in the following time zones after midnight on the following day:
- 12 AM SGT – Singapore
- 12 AM CST – Beijing
- 2 AM JST – Tokyo
Is The Archon a Round-Based Map?
Yes, The Archon will be a new round-based map and will follow a similar structure to Season 4’s Shi No Numa.

Players were not happy with Vanguard Zombies at first because of its departure from the traditional COD Zombies formula. It completely eliminated the round-based format and threw out some of the most iconic mechanics in COD Zombies.
Thankfully, Treyarch listened and introduced its first round-based Vanguard Zombies map in Season 4 with a reimagining of Shi No Numa. The Archon will be only the second round-based Zombies map in Vanguard.
Is ‘The Archon’ the Final Vanguard Zombies Map?
Yes, Treyarch has confirmed that The Archon will be the final COD Zombies map coming to Vanguard.
In their official Twitter announcement, Treyarch also hinted at the end of the Korifex storyline with a phrase stating, “Korifex must die.” The Korifex storyline originally started with Vanguard.
The Archon will feature a brand new Main Quest, new Dark Aether Narrative Intel, and a brand-new boss fight to overcome.
